Hello, getting ready to order some CCW classics for the 69 Camaro I'm putting together. Have been searching for some specs on the widest 18" wheel and tire I can squeeze in the front. Right now I'm still running the stock sub-frame but plan on upgrading as time and money allow. Haven't been able to find anything specific. Right now I'm considering a 18x8.5 with 4.75 BS or 18x9 with 5" BS. Tires would be either 245/35/18 or 265/35/18. I already have 335/30/18 Michelins going in the rear. Can anyone with a similar setup chime in with any pointers?
Much appreciated!

Hot rod magazine did an article that posted max sizes for several muscle cars it would be a good place to start.

When you start looking into suspension, our TruTurn setup allows a wider wheel and tire to fit (up to a 10" wheel w/ a 275 tire). It sounds like you're looking to get the wheels first but if you're looking to go as wide as possible, you could get your suspension put together first and then build the wheels around that. At least if you go that route, you won't have to back-track and spend more later.

Thanks for the replies and info, with the tru-turn, could I run a 18x9.5 with 265/35/18? Curious on what back space to run..

It depends how low you go....
Here is a pic of a 68 with 18x9 with 6" backspacing running a tru turn (you can also go rack/pinion instead of truturn)
If I was a 9.5 wide wheel I would go to a 6.4-6.5 backspacing on my 68.....the fenders are a bit wider on a 69.

What wheels are you running? You don't have rubbing issues? What size tires also please?

They are weld rts 18x9 with 265s up front and 18x11.5 with 335s in back. No rubbing but I don't have inner fenders due to the turbo piping.
