Anybody else having issues with photobucket lately? It's so clogged up with garbage ads it barely loads for me even with 60 M internet, and it often locks up and crashes. What a waste of time it's become.

What are some of the better free alternatives for photo storage?

You have a company website. Why not make a directory there and upload photos that you can then link to when you make your posts?

Because one day, when your automatic renewal slips and some hostage taker in China buys your domain 45 seconds after it become free you lose all your stuff :( - not that I know anything about that.

Google Drive or iCloud work - I'm sure there are others.

Lol James!

As per some suggestions I checked out some options-

One reason I've liked using photobucket was because I can create individual albums for each car or subject and I can organize the pics' order in several different ways. I prefer organizing by file name since I name them like "silver GTO 001, silver GTO 002...". that way I can add more photos later, like from the shop guys' pics, and have them all remain in build chronological order. Creating a link to share is easy. Actually using the website for now is awful unless you pay for it I guess.

Amazon has a photo storage system but you have to pay after a trial period and is based on usage. If you upload or share a lot of pics sounds like it will cost. It's free to Prime account holders but I don't use amazon so I'm not up to speed on what that is. I did not try this one out.

Shutterfly does have ability to create specific albums, however organizing within albums by date uploaded is the only option. Creating a link to share is easy. This program seems super easy and clean, and it being cost and ad free and having unlimited storage is really appealing. They must make their money by having photo based products available- prints, mugs, etc.

Picasa was suggested and apparently was a good one but it has now been absorbed by Google.

Google photos has a weird way of organizing. It looks like all your photos are in one inclusive album, I don't see a way to create an individual album for each car or subject. Their search is interesting though, the program is able to identify different things within photos, for example I did a search of my photos on tires and it only opened pics that showed tires on the car. Did the same with a chassis search and it only opened pics of a chassis. The search tool isn't perfect as it didn't bring up all the photos that had tires, so if you're looking for a specific pic in a large album of pics it may take some trial and error. Creating a link to share is easy.

I'll check on the server with our IT guy, I thought of that too but I'm not sure how to do that yet.

Hope this info helps others.

Motortopia.com has some framework to fit your pictures into, but it looks familiar, and is easy to navigate, without much advertisement junk.
The Motortopia picture uploader actually works too! You can easily upload multiple pics.

FLICKR- way better than Photobucket- it's free-upto 1000G!!! keeps stuff organized- never had them go down-never get an email trying to sell me stuff- no pop-ups- a lot faster uploads-

Here's a couple of albums to get a taste- seems to be the "professional's pick"-can join/set-up groups

Take a look at these-can do searches a LOT easier than Photobucket
