I plan to put in a Chevrolet Performance LT4 (http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/crate-engines/lt4.html) engine and 4L85-E (http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/transmissions/supermatic-4l85-e.html) transmission with a GM transmission controller (19302410) into my 69 Camaro. What is the feedback on the Twist Machine Paddle Shifters (http://www.twistmachine.com/categories/paddle-shifters.html)? Are there other shifters that might work better with my setup? There seem to be limited choices for digital gear indicator gauges. In fact, the only ones I could find are the PCS gear indicators (https://www.powertraincontrolsolutions.com/Performance_Aftermarket/Products/Displays/Gear_Indicator/) and they are pricey.

You may want to give Steve a call regarding the transmission controller. I believe you have to use the Compushift controller. I have the paddle shifter kit from Twist Machine but unfortunately I am still building the car. The good news is the controller for the Compushift has a gear shift indicator built in. I also think that Dakota Digital has some pretty nice gear shift indicators. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=60/category_id=-1/home_id=-1/mode=prod/prd60.htm

The twist paddles work with other trans controllers, Compushift is just what Steve carries. I'm pretty sure he supports TCI ez tcu and PCS. I will tell you they are even nicer in person than what the pictures show.

I have the PCS set up (TCM and paddle shifters) but I'm still in the middle of the 4L80E install so I can't comment on performance. I've heard good things about them though.

The capability and expandability of the PCS TCM seems to be very well thought out in the design based on my reading though...

I had the PCS Simple Shift and Twist Shrifter, but sold it before install because I really wanted a manual car. I talked with Steve several times before purchase and he assured me his stuff was compatible. PCS is a great product, my contact there has since moved on. He gave me a lot of background on their development and testing. And I'm sure you can tell the GM Supermatic controller is a version of their TCM 2000

I believe Steve said that you could also use the factory Ecu. It's been awhile since I've talked to him. Also, Steve can be hard to get ahold of...

Hi Folks. I sold Twist Machine to HGM Automotive at the beginning of the year. They are the company that produces Compushift controllers. ...Great people. I now work full time at Barrett-Jackson running their Specialist program. I do miss building Shrifter paddle shifters and speaking with enthusiasts about paddle shifters, converters, controllers and such. Traveling around the country playing with cars at Barrett-Jackson isn't a bad alternative. :-)

If you need anything Twist-related, give Mike a call at Compushift. 1-877-659-3502

Thanks,
Steve
