I'm looking to purchase a set of 3/8 Dowel Rods. These are used to hold the Lifters In place while swapping out the Cam in an LS engine. I don't know the name of these rods and so. Can't find them to purchase. Help ?

Thanks.

Just go buy some 5/16 brake line or an aluminum dowel rod from Home Depot in the same diameter and you're good to go.

I thought that the lifters on a ls motor were held in place with a plastic lifter support, and to swap a cam all you had to do was remove the rocker arms, and push rod, turn the cam 360 degrees and the tray or support would hold the lifters in please until you put the push rods back in and pushed the lifter back down.

This is true, but the dowel trick is a safety measure in case the lifters decide to drop when you're not looking.
That can ruin your day.
