If you are going electric, buy this setup.

I just got mine today and put it on the car. Awsome. I will be taking the car to the track on saturday to get some before and after 1/4 times, but so far I am quite impressed. Nice build quality, easy installation, lower current draw then relay setup, holds the temp right on the set point.

I will be putting a more in depth review together and putting it up in teh hotrodhomepage.com, but thought that I would post this here first.

I've had the controller installed on my RX7 for about 6 months now. It works much better than the on-off control of the ECU.

It certainly does. The temp on my car does not move much. If you follow all the directions and get your thermostat and dcc setting aligned, you will love it.

I finished my fan install article (http://www.hotrodhomepage.com/?p=33) and my Delta Current Control article (http://hotrodhomepage.com/?p=57). Give them a read and give me some feedback.

JP,

Your Commander 950 ECU has an output for a fan control relay. I have dual 11 inch Spals on my GTO and they are controlled by the Commander. The DC Controls unit is great for someone that has no means for activating a fan. I installed one on my Mazda mainly to reduce noise levels. My 16 inch Spal fan is VERY loud. Much louder than my dual 11 inch Spals in the GTO. The DC Controls unit actually varies the speed of the fan so most of the time the fan is not at 100% speed. This makes for much quieter operation.

I will second the quiet operation commment. Most of the time the fans make less noise then the old 7 blade did.

I'd like to add that the average amp draw as I've measured once operating temp of 180 is reached is around 24-26 amps. You'll never be able to design a relay system that can maintain a target temp. range and use such low amps to do it. -Jabin

True, my amp draw was over 50amps with a simple relay and dropped to much less with teh Dcc unit.

Yes I knew the Commander had a fan output, but I was thinking of combining this somehow. The other thing is that I have dual 11s, and the Commander only supports one relay. So ... anyway, that's the limit of my analysis on this.
