wheel opinions?

so this is the first set of billet rallye IIs i've seen on a second gen...I've been considering these wheels for a loooong time, but I just cant decide now that I've seen 'em.

If I ordered a set, they'd be an inch bigger all around and a half inch wider in the back. These are 17x8 and 17x9.5s.

What do you guys think??

I have always liked the Pontiac finish the best of all the billet Ralleys. I think 18" would like sooo nice.

other possibilities are torque thrust IIs painted a lot like these to match the bottom trim on my car, and then a more modern, BBS style wheel painted to look a lot like a modern "Snowflake" wheel. I really want to do something other than TTIIs, I think...theyre just too played out.

those are 17x8 and 17x9.5, I want to do either 18x8 or 18x9 up front and 18x10 or maybe 18x11 in the back, depending on how much clearance I end up with after I do my suspension.

I think the Intro Vista evokes the Pontiac Rally theme but in a more modern way.

idk, the vistas look too "hot roddy" to me. I like a more almost-oem looking wheel, something that blends subtly with the rest of the car.

the wheels are made by billet vintiques.

I thought the billet pont ralley II's were the way to go until i saw pics on a car. They just look more hotrod than pontiac to me. I have seen specialty wheels rallye II's in person and they look nice. Unfortunately they are steel and don't come in 17's.

Leaning towards TT classics in grey or getting them powdercoated black. Those gold TT's on that TA are awsome.

I also like something that evokes the original them and am thinking of toning the Intros down by painting the insets on the satin versions. Have you thought of doing this?

The wheel vintiques are nice, but in the 17" they don't have enough depth.

If the car on the outside is going to look original. Meaning factory looking other then lowering the suspension, I would stay with the Billet Rally II. You cant go wrong. It gives the car a more modern OEM look.

really close to my two cents as well, since I want to leave as much stuff factory-looking as I can (I.E: original paint job, rebuilt/recovered seats instead of new ones, etc), almost like a "what if pontiac could have built a 78 firebird with today's technology" sort of thing.

I agree though, they look kinda...flat. I think a big part of the problem is the use of a really light gray in between the spokes on the billet wheels. What do you guys think about getting the gray parts painted or coated a darker gray? would it help, in your opinion?

p.s. check out this shot of them...this has boosted my opinion of them a wee bit.

A great and different alternative to the TTIIs IMO!

And the billet Rally IIs in the 18" sizes you're talking about are only $600 more with tires than the TTIIs... hmmmm...

Would like to see more pics of the red 74 T/A with the billet RIIs!

I think the darker grey would work or maybe black. I can't see anything on the car that is close to the light gray color.

I like them. I think they look good on the 2nd gen. The AR 200S above with a grey center would also look good. I've seen pics on the web of a couple earlier 2nd gens with the 200S and they looked pretty good on the body.

I love those billet rallyes, but I would powdercoat the center more charcol like the original rallye II's.

yeah i think that's the real problem with them.

take a look at my factory rallye IIs...you can see how much darker they are.
as for the daisies...ive always disliked those on anything but gasser-style hotrods, for some reason...dunno why. thanks for the idea though

That is the theme concerning my own car. I wanted to buy these rims also. However, they do not come in 20". I needed that size in the rear because 69 GTO's sit higher in the front. I used 18" up front and 20" in the rear just to give me a 1" difference with the front being lower.

Besides being too light, I would paint the hoops to emulate the trim ring as well. That would give the wheel a deeper dish feel.
