As you saw in some of my last post I bought an LS7 engine from a guy in Canada off of Racing Junk....well he farted around with shipping, information pertaining to tracking etc..etc.. bottom line it was a scam...a communication ceased a couple weeks ago, a month later no engine....Why do people do this!!! What to do now?

Is there anyway you can contact your credit card company/bank to dispute the charges? They're usually really quick at handling things like this.

You've given him a lot more time than I would have, a month is way too long. Contact PayPal asap, they have some information on him I'm sure.

X2. Do not delay. Do it today.
Don
PayPal will freeze his account so doing it right away is the best bet. Otherwise you give them time to move the money out. Sorry that happened to you.

First world problems much? You'll get your money back soon. Then I suggest you buy a new crate engine and be happy. What's the fetish with an LS7 anyway? Get a LS3 525, get the harness and ecu kit from GMPP, plug and play!!! With a warranty!!!

I want 550hp to the tires and drive like a normal-ish car. I already have a 525hp LS engine. Going from a 346 to a 360 is not much worth effort to me.

Well I'm guessing the price was one of those "too good to be true" deals since you were going to purchase from someone in Canada. If you want the LS7 without the ticket of a new one, you might want to search one of the high rated resellers on Ebay and such. At least you KNOW from day one you're purchase is protected and the likely hood of being taken is less. You will probably get your money back, but I don't know if I would deal in thousands of dollars without some kind of reassurance like a bank escrow or something.

I think you should go with a simple and bullet proof solution given the issues you've had along the way. I am not sure an LS7 is simple or bulletproof...

What Don said...
I talked to several builders about an engine build up-to and including road racing. None of them mentioned an ls7 as the first choice for a reliable or cost-affective option.
Just out of curiosity, why do you want 550hp to the tires? Are you participating in events where the reason you aren't competitive is lack of power? Or is this a street car and you feel like doing rolling burnouts on the highway?

I feel 550 would likely give me the power I want, but not overly to the point the car is not practical to drive. I want bigger cubes so the power was lower in the power band. My LS1 is quick, but it doesn't really come to life until 4,000 rpms to 6800. If I'm gonna go through the work, I want it to be the last engine swap I do for years to come

How about a LSx 454 (little over $10k)? I realize it has an iron block, but with the LS7 there is also the weight of the oil tank and extra oil, etc...They make a ton of torque and are pretty mild. The LSA (just a little over $11k) is also an excellent option and probably the same weight at the LSx 454 and similar power and very mild mannered. Just look at that torque curve!!!

Or get a little creative...get a Gen IV 5.3L or even a 4.8L, throw rods and pistons in it, and piece together a simple turbo system with a smallish turbo. With the money you save, get a kick ass Holley Dominator ECU, etc....

427 / LS7, Andrew. Magic letters and numbers. Nothing wrong with that.

I think LSx 454 sounds pretty magical...LOL
It just seems there are better options with the kind of budget that he is working with.
