first you are wrong BIG TIME 70 is the best looking yr ... helen keller could tell you that LMAO.
second ....i have no idea if they were the same or not to be honest. i know some cars use the same crossmembers and have different mounting locations and, other cars have different crossmembers but mounted in the same location

Lookie here pal, i've noticed everyone who has a 70' thinks they have a factory LS6 454 numbers matching bandwagon riding holy grail trip, i get it. But if you remove the 454 from the conversation, you'll realize that the chevelle line up 64'-72' it's an easy break down

64-65 meh so so but looks like a first gen nova with two headlights (inferior design)
66 is ok cept the front clip and rear tail lights for that matter.
67 has the predator front end and slick tail lights - no doubt the best looking out of the line up, classic lines when one thinks american muscle. (your Canadian so this doesn't apply to you)
68, meh so so
69' would be tuff choice to decide for best looking with the pointy front end and large tail lights.
70' has the whole pseudo 1970's styling with there two bit attempt on the molded head light shroud.
71 and 72 - Barf! no comment.

Oh my cross member will be hacked up bcos i dont believe in trailer queens. My car will have a lil LS small block with a t56 that will shame a porky 454. ok im done.

Your oh so wrong! 1966 Chevelle was the best year 67 looked like a copy of a 66 but a 8 year old added the tail lights. The 68 and newer look like a cartoon version done by a 12 year old each year as he got older! LMAO Just sayin'
A body cross members are different. Pontiac used a crossmember mounted in rubber with a"cap" over it. There is also a difference between convertible and the pillar/hardtop.

oh, did you also want to get involved? Since your being down right nasty about it (in my tread)..I'll just come right out and say it.
The 66' front end looks like, uhm.... you know when you see a scared dog with there ears folded down, well that's exactly how the front headlights/ corners of front end look. And while were at it, the rear sunken in tail lights ties back into my scared dog reference with it's tail between it's legs....
Who's next?

Well you really must not want that cross member with those posts! Lol!
If your doing a t56 just buy a pre made one.
unless you have the welder and cut off saw to get the job done thats one way to go.
I just got my bender die machined and will be making one out of 1.250 dom.
But on another note do a craigslist search theres a guy in la puente that has an abody junk yard at his house.
Hit him up,his names hector.
Good luck.
