I have been looking for sometime now for a 1969 firebird project car that I want to be able to turn into something that I can drive across the country when the day comes and I also want the car to eventually become my daily. I've restored a 1979 Trans Am , helped with my dad's 1977 Trans Am, and my uncle's 1966 Nova, and a few buddy's cars and trucks here and there. Now I'm finally getting to a place in my life that I want to build a car I can take out on any given day and just drive anywhere I choose. I've decided that I want a 1969 firebird and have even went and looked at a few . my question is what's the best set up engine and trans wise? What's the best suspension to go with? I have no want for this car to be original at all so what's the best to go with?

Welcome to the forum.

If you want this to be a daily driver, nothing beats a modern LS power plant (the exact one depends on your budget) with an overdrive auto (4L60e or 4L80e) or manual transmission (T56 Magnum).

Welcome! Pretty much what Andrew said, but that also depends on the car. If the car you get has an original 400 or better, I'd try and leave it that way. But if the engine is gone, or a 350, I'd say go LS. Depends on your goals. I'm going with a radical 455 Pontiac in my Firebird because I'm just trying to be a bit different.
