Well folks it's official. I couldn't say anything before now, but I was coaxed out of retirement and have been hired by Dominion Raceway Superkarts to build and maintain their new Superkart fleet. We will be offering kart racing experiences to the public very shortly. We took our first two karts out for shake down runs today to test drive our new kart track layout. We should have 10 karts in service within the next day or two with a total of 25 karts in the fleet. This job is right down my alley since I spent a lot of years wrenching on competition karts and I'm a former WKA championship winning crew chief. If any of you come out to DR for a track day or just happen to be in the area, stop by and give our karts a spin (no pun intended).

Man that sounds like a blast. How come all the cool stuff is so far away. There used to be a few places around here (kansas city) but they kinda have all gone away. It's always nice to be doing something u enjoy. Have fun

If you will driving via I-95 in VA then you will be within a half-mile of DR. Exit 118 Thornburg, VA. By all means stop by and at least lake a look at the facility. We have a three day NASA track day Jun 22-24 and we have a three day WKA kart event Jun 29-31 on the road course. Currently there is nothing scheduled on the road course labor day weekend.

Here is an update, I have all the karts set up and now need to turn my attention to tuning them for the speed we want. Somewhere around 50-55mph is our goal.

Ron,
I will pass that observation along to the webmaster. I know if you go to the main DR page http://dominionraceway.com/ the address and track info is posted in some of the other sections. Being this is a brand new facility the web site as well as the grounds are evolving and improving daily. A lot of people here are working very hard to make this a world class racing venue but it will take time. The good news is we have a great model in VIR.
