Hey guys. I have a '67 mustang coupe that I'm building (5+years now) that has a 347 stroker with Kaase P38 heads that I want to build 1 7/8 headers for. I have Kaase's header flanges and I bought a weld your own long tubes kit in 1 7/8 tubes. But I have not attempted headers before and a little worried I'll screw it up. Any advice or good how to's? Or anyone know of a reasonable place to get them welded up in DFW area? Also should note I also have the mustang 2 IFS. I have basic fab skills but not great. I just finished installing an '03 cobra IRS on the rear end

I have been building a set of 4-2-1 equal length headers for my '70 Mustang project for a while. This was my first attempt at designing and building them. There are several ways of modeling the tubes before you go to chopping up the actual parts. http://www.stainlessheaders.com/customheaders has some interesting examples of modeling headers. I personally went to http://www.icengineworks.com and looked at some of their kits. These kits are crazy money, if you are not going to build multiple sets they'll more than likely be cost prohibitive. I bought some of the parts as add on pieces to kits (still not cheap), but well worth the money, in my opinion.

You could try some pipe insulation foam with some wire to form the bends accurate enough to model off of, but modeling of some sort will save you a lot of bends and headaches.

It can be done though. Good luck with the tubes...
