Whats the biggest wheel/tire combo you can get in the back on a non-minitubbed car?
Along those lines, whats the biggest you can go in the front?
The point of my questions is that Im curious what the biggest square set up you can get away with is on 15" wheels.
Thanks for the help!

The widest tire that I know of on the rear is a 275, on the front is a 245. That's without any mods to the front.

perfect, thanks. I believe with the Ride Tech stuff on the front you can get a 275 on there which is what I was looking at....275s on 9" wheels all the way around.

If memory serves, a 69 can take a bigger wheel/tire than 67-68. Not sure on the exact difference, I've owned 2nd through 5th gens, so hopefully someone can confirm/deny this.

In my opinion a 9" wide rim is too narrow for 275. A 9.5" is acceptable but prbly not optimum. I have 9.5" rear 9" front w 275/40 18s on my '69 right now. There is tire bulge at the front which would most likely be exacerbated by taller sidewall 15" tires. A "lightbulb" tire shape isn't exactly ideal for performance..
As I am now shopping for high performance 200tw tires for SCCA I have been looking at 265s mostly. Tire rack measures tread width and lists it on the specs tab for each tire. Depending on the manufacture a 275 comes in around 10" wide and a 265 around 9.5
Now with that being said I should be able to fit 10" wide rims all the way around on my car if I roll the wheel lip in the rear and trim the inside of the front fender lining and roll the front lip also. (since I havent trimmed the inners the front does currently rub going into driveways)
My rear setup is a stock width rear housing and stock tubs with 5.8" backspacing
The front is Art Morrison so those specs don't apply to you because the front is corvette based and high backspace(6.75ish IIRC)
Look at Rodneys build thread. He put 5.5" backspace 9.5s all the way around his '68 using all ridetech stuff.

One thing to keep in mind is that the tru-turn set-up isnt exactly bolt on and go. There are various threads on here with people having problems from diffrent aftermarket parts interference. Call ridetech and find out exactly what you need, they have legendary customer service. Brett responds to people on the forums all the time.
With that being said, I still think it is a great set up and prbly the best thing you can do before going to a full replacement front clip. I've seen the west coast ridetech guy James SMOKE people at autoX events(myself included).

Throwing in my .02. Comments are for 67 only.
9in wide rim is not too narrow for a 275. You'll see that many vehicles have been running this size for years, specifically, a ton of mustangs and camaros (96-). I'm currently running 9in w/ 275's on the rear of my 67. Not only are there no issues, but it looks great! I do however agree that 245's on a 8in wheel is all you're going to get out of the front. Be careful with backspacing here, as you'll see it ends up close. Without drop, 4.5in. If you're going to drop, you need 4.75in BS. Sadly, I wanted TT2 wheels, and without going custom, they only do 8 w/ 4.5in BS, so after my drop, I had rubbing issues. I mitigated this by raising an inch with spacers (used 3in hotchkis drop), and doing a slightly smaller tire. I will say, if I hit a big enough bump, I'll still rub. At this point I just wish I'd ordered a custom 4.75in BS wheel and been done with it, given my intent to drop the car.
Ride tech, tru-turn, mini-tub, all these other things change everything I just stated. My comments are for stock type suspension setup, potentially with just a drop spring kit, like the Hotchkis TVS kit I used.

9.5 rim with 5.5 backspace it creates the correct sidewall angle for the 275 tires....any narrower and it creates bulge ...... the 9.5 at 5.5 fits the rears without any inner mods, but you will have to cut or roll the outer lip.....the 9.5 at 5.5 fits the front if to have the factory Z28 arms or you you need the tru-turn kit, you must mod the inner fenderwell, and the outer edge lip also must be rolled and cut

Also along these lines, what is the tallest front tire that can be run? For example, the Ridetech Tru-turn setup recommends running a 275/35/18. But what if a larger wheel is used to clear bigger brakes? For instance, a 275/35/19 would be 1" taller... will this fit? Or is the 275/30/19 the better option?
In the same token, is there an ideal tire height for smaller wheels?
I apologize to the OP in advanced if this is way off tangent from the intent of the thread.

Not at all....certainly a reasonable question given the topic of the thread....I will say, Ride Tech's customer support is fantastic and they can probably answer that quite easily

As an educated guess I would say its best to stick towards whatever the recommended size is to avoid rubbing. You could raise the car for more clearance if you wanted more sidewall on a 19, but like you said your changing the tires overall diameter by 1"
Coincidentally I was looking into running 275/35 19s at one point to try and keep my OD but run a thinner sidewall. My tires are 275/40 18s which is a bit oddball size but lets my trans run a bit less RPM at highway speeds
For reference I was bench marking a new Jaguar F Pace at work today and that car runs 4 different wheel/tire packages that are almost identical O.D.
255/60 18=763mm
255/55 19=763mm
255/50 20=763mm
265/40 22=770mm
