Can we say redneck Camaro? :screwy: The unfortunate realty is that this thing actually wins trophys and it manages to beat my buddies pro-touring 68 almost everytime... :banghead: I guess if it were 1975 this thing would be cutting edge technology.. Lets hear some of your comments...

It's the new trend man, forget all that 50's-60's retro-rods. Its all about the 70s and 80's again. Does that Camaro have those feet shaped pedals? That would make it a show winner.

I was talking to a guy this weekend about the fact that I am taking my Camaro from stock in the direction of Pro-Touring. He was asking about any parts I may want to sell for his 69. I told him I may sell the stock springs as I will have lowering springs. He said "no, my springs sit up good as it is". I didn't get into asking him why you would want it to "sit up" at all! :dunno:

All it needs is a beer tap shifter, side pipes and some "Back Off" mud flaps with the chrome nekkid lady silhouettes...I assume the super mullet is already in place!

gotta love local car show judges. Its always a group of older guys who blare 50s music and know all the old school guys by name. The new guys never win anything.

But just think. One day we'll be those older guys.

Wendell.. Hey man no mailice intended I just thought this car looked outdated and asked for opinions. To each his own. If you like a retro 70's look with wheels that stick out 2in from the wheel lip and a airshock rake then good on ya :icon996: Personaly I just thought it looked funny. The car has its good points good paint, straight body, TONS of chrome, it is all what you like.

I have seen the car and have seen some of the real nice cars it tends to beat at the local redneck shows, I think it is beacuse the chick who drives it could also pass as a WWF wrestler! Thank goodness for local good ol boys who judge!!!

Danny and Travis know the car, but I know it alot better....... It ALWAYS beats me in local car shows. I guess "I" really don't get it when it comes to cars. That particular show where the picture was taken, she had all of those trophies in the back, the guy next to me asked her if she need a extra U-haul to bring them with her. I talk to the owners all of the time (we are always in the same class- camaro modified).

The couple that own the car are really nice people but they have an IN when it comes to the local judges. Alot of the local judges still think it is the 1970's :kiss: and think I am crazy for "updating" my car. One judge asked me one time if I thought I should be in the "import" class because it is lowered. While judging my car and telling me everything HE thought was wrong with it, he told me that I might take some pointers from his friend with the red one. I can take some constructive critisism to a point but I lost it. I asked him where his car was and he said he "used" to have a Nova 10 years ago and I guess that made him some kind of "expert". Hey Danny and Travis, maybe you guys can also take some pointers and we might have a cool car like that sometime :rotfl:

While I do agree with you, I honestly don't like the way that car looks. I have also been known to walk by a car with the owner standing there, say "Gross", and keep walking. It's my opinion. Honestly, I would wonder why it would be winning some classes when the stuff on it is outdated by going on 25 years. I once told a guy that I was lowering my camaro and putting big wheels on it. He said I was ricing it out. I told him that he should learn what tasteful was. He had stickers all over the windows of his car, and the rear was jacked up in the air. I just walked away from him. His cars engine may have been immaculate, but the rest was crap. Go ahead and post your opinion. Just don't make it personal.

yeah. Far too often it becomes about how the judges know (and even helped build) so and so's car. I've been to shows where the judges were like "wow bob, looks like you got some new valve covers on there" and will be drooling all over a 20 year work in progress, and pass up a hard core, well crafted machine, just because it came from out of town.

even sadder still is that I was actually one of those guys, (I was one of the "Nor Cal gang) and the older guys would deliberatly snubb those cars from out of town or were "check book" rods. It drove me to quit the club. and my father in law was the president. Good times. Just remember, dont expect those shows to be fair. They rarely are.

It's all in good fun, no one is making it personal. I'm sure we've all had people talk **** about our cars at some point or another, too. People are welcomed to their opinion, if they don't like my car and tell me so, it's no sweat off my back.

With that being said, WOW. Cars like that are the reason I stopped to going to the smaller local car shows. While there are a few cool cars running around, most people are simply concerend with chalk mark restos, a car built around a JC Whitney catalog, or modifications that were popular before I was even born. But as the old addage goes, different strokes for different folks.

Ralph The OBI thing is light years ahead of what goes on near me. Long Island seems a little ahead of my area. I have more or less given up on shows, rather take a blast then sit in a parking lot all day and explain my car to people that dont like it.

I hear ya. There is hardly any fun to be had if the car isn't moving. I much rather do cruises and racing events than car shows. (I haven't been to a car show in about 2 yeasr, excluding OBI) However, OBI is probably the exception to the rule. Lots of awesome PT cars and just modified and high end cars in general go to OBI. I'm sure the shows in your area are very similar to the more local shows that I'm talking about. I consider OBI more of a crusie/gathering same as Bald Hill. It's usually at those events that there are some cool cars and people. The Sunday morning/afternoon chalk mark guys are the ones I'd rather skip, heh.

It could be easily rescued and turned into something sweet.

That was my plan with my car. Screw the 4" of wheel gap and 14" slotted mags that stuck out an inch. Not to mention the chrome headlight buckets and mudflaps. And rear window louver.

There are several 70's style first gens at the local shows around DFW. I agree with trying to find that one guy who just doesnt get it and turn him on to pt.com. I actually met a guy at one show who if you painted that car blue it would of been his car, Well I talked to him about what I am "TRYING" to do with my car. Next show he had baer brakes all around. last I talked to him he's trying to get some upper TCA'S on his car. I bet next summer he tucks his back tires back in!!

One more for the movement!

I only feel the need to bash a car when it's obvious that someone has done a severe disservice to said vehicle. That's not the case with this car. It's obviously a very nice car that is maybe a little 'stance-challenged' for lack of a better term. Theres nothing wrong with that. This is primarily an issue of preference. I don't think the car is a waste at all. Do I think the stance and the wheels suck? Yessir. But I'd still give my left nut to own it.

Well.....maybe my right nut. I'm quite fond of my left one. :rolleyes5

There is a car at the local shows here that is yellow and black stripes everywhere, its a 69 but it looks like a crazed yellow jacket . I like yellow cars but it has yellow hoses and spraypainted calipers and ye.....oops I barfed.

No, M-50's actually were M50x15, the old way of measuring tire size and before radials. smallest sizes width wise was C78x15. The C(or M) would denote the width, the 78 (or 50) would denote the height of side wall, and the 15 of course is wheel size. The rear tire on this car is a radial and my guess would be a 275x60r15. That size btw will fit IN the quarters with proper backspacing.

Hey- at least it's clean. It's still better looking than a Taurus.

As a side note- I knew a rather LARGE gentleman back in Detroit that was 300+lbs. His car always sat 1-2" higher on the drivers side (the way he set it). When he got in- back to level.

I Dunno- maybe this cat has a 300+lb wife / hubby.
