Looking to find the max backspace on 64-67 A-Body. Looking at a set of stock steel Camaro 18" wheels on my 66 El Camino but in the process and the car is apart. Had the guy check his wheels and he thinks the backspace is around 5" to 5-1/4"

Maybe someone on here has already tried this. Thanks.

On the rear it's going to depend on what rear end is in there. I just ordered 17x9.5 6 1/4'' bs for my 65 el camino with the 1965 width Moser 12 bolt and its going to be tight. A 66 has a little more room. In the front I ordered 17x9 6'' bs and plan on running the DSE splined sway bar which gives more room. Older GM cars usually can't take more than 3 to 3.5'' positive offset (out).

1967 Buick Skylark here, I currently have 18x9.5 wheels with a 5.030 backspacing and they rub the 1/4 pretty bad. Actually to the point that the previous owner completely cut the inner fender out and they still rub the 1/4 on hard turns. I have about 2 inches of room from the tire to leaf on the inside so definitely some room to move in there. I don't know how wide these stock Camaro wheels are but if they are 9+ inches you may have a fitment issue unless the El Camino has wider 1/4s

Camaro wiki says they are 18x7.5 with +38 offset which converts to 5.75 backspace. They might be ok in the rear, but will sit inside the fender well. The fronts may be a tight fit on the back side.
