Hey guys,

I've been lurking in the background here for a couple months but this is my first official post. Although I'm big into muscle cars of the 60's & 70's, I'm quickly falling head over heels for the whole Pro Touring/Resto-Mod scene. Is it ok to use those two terms in the same sentence? LOL!! I'm still learning. In addition to my passion for 1:1 muscle, I've also been collecting 1/18 scale diecast muscle car replicas for the past 10 years or so as well as running a website devoted to these models for the past 7.

That leads to the reason for my post. In my lurking, I've noticed one of the designers at GMP - John McBride - is a regular contributor here and I've read his many posts on GMP's 1/18 scale Street Fighter Camaro's, which you guys seem to have enjoyed. Back in October, John also shared a few shots of GMP's upcoming 1967 Ford Fairlane Resto-Mod, also a part of their Street Fighter series. Due to release around the middle of November, I got an early preview of this customized classic which is loaded with tons of eye candy & finger fun, including one slick two-tone paint job. I have a full review along with roughly 40 pictures posted on my website which you can view by clicking on the link below.

I sincerely hope you guys enjoy the pics & review, but more importantly, I hope you enjoy the model itself. If anyone needs to know where they can get one of these Fairlane Resto-Mods, post a reply here or send me an email and I'll help point you in the right direction.

I'd like to warn anybody thinking about checking out Dave's review on the RestoMod Fairlane, even if you have no intention of buying this car, after reading his review and checking out all the pics, you will find it VERY hard to resist. Seriously though, excellent review and pics as always Dave. I'll see you back at the DCP.

The level of detail on some of those cars is amazing. I'm always impressed with what they can squeeze onto some of those models.

Dave, welcome.

I think most people would say Resto-mod and Pro-Touring are very similar, if not exactly the same thing.

Now .... I gotta ask: would I happen to hear you on the radio around these parts, say as the traffic guy on 98 Rock?

Ummm...I can't believe the windows roll up and down with the window crank! I would have never believed these things have come so far. I thought I was getting a killer toy when I was able to open the doors on my hotwheels. Amazingly cool, and it makes me wish my mom hadn't wrecked her 67 Fairlane she had in the late 80's.

The windows roll up and down? That is incredible.

I owned a 67 Fairlane 390 with a gate-shifted 4 speed a LONG time ago. It was given to me as payment for work I did swapping in a V6 to a 4-banger Monza.

I sold it for the cash ... but I've been keeping an eye out for them ever since.

Hey Dave,

Great review on the GMP Fairlane! This was a fun project that we all had fun working on. Tell ya one of the great things about working at GMP is that we all have input and great ideas to share to make these products what they are. There's a car guy in everyone of us here at the office. I think the two-tone really makes it. The colors we picked really turned out nice. As a side note, the driveshaft spins along with the wheels turning so there's a real differential in that rear end too!

Enjoy,
John

Hey guys,

Thanks for the welcome and it's good to see a couple familiar names here from some of the other forums I visit!! I'm glad you all liked the pics & review for GMP's Street Fighter Fairlane, I figured you'd enjoy them. As John said, the two tone paint really sets this one off and I'm looking forward to seeing the two tone job on their upcoming 1970 GTO Resto-Mod in person.

To JP, my apologies, I'm not THAT Detour Dave. Long story short, I was given the nickname about 16 years ago, while working an old job, for trying to do too many things at one time - which I still do. Today, more people know me by my nickname than my real name, especially within the diecast industry. I've actually talked to Dave Sandler a few times, he's a cool guy!!

Again, I'm glad you guys liked the pics & review for the Fairlane and thank you all for the positive comments.
