Though this should have been posted a couple of weeks ago and many of you are probably aware of this
by now, I thought I should still post the news (just in case there was one person that hadn't seen it). Mike
Copeland has been part of the automotive industry for quite some time. After retiring from GM, Lingenfelter
contacted him asking if he would come out of retirement and help them with their program. He agreed and
has been with Lingenfelter ever since. Unfortunately, Mike announced that he will be retiring once again,
though he will still continue to work with Lingenfelter and be present at some shows and race events. Below
is the announcement he released to the public / industry.

Dear friends and colleges,
A little over five years ago I retired from GM. When I made the decision to retire, my plan was to work at my company,
Diversified Creations. All that changed when Ken Lingenfelter called and asked if I would be interested in talking with
him about a position at Lingenfelter. After a number of discussions, I made the decision to join his team. This decision
was one of the best I have made in my life. Lingenfelter has an amazing group of the most talented people I have ever
had the opportunity to work with. Ken is an amazing person, from his endless knowledge of business, to his devotion and
support of numerous charities. I have had the honor of working side by side with him for the last 5 plus years. Add the
knowledge I have learned from the all the people at Lingenfelter, and it makes this decision very difficult.
When I joined Lingenfelter, my plan was to work about 5 more years. It seems like yesterday, but it has already been
over five years. So, sticking to my plan I will retire from Lingenfelter on April 30th. We have accomplished so much, and
I believe I am leaving with a team in place that can continue to take Lingenfelter to the next level and beyond. Ken has
asked that I help with some events (see some of you on Power Tour), and future plans. I have agreed to do that.
My goal is to spend more time with my wife, both at our place at the sand dunes on Lake Michigan, and seeing the
country in the motor home we just bought. I plan to work some at Diversified Creations, mostly on the numerous
project vehicles that have piled up the last few years. I have a great team there, and they don’t need me messing it up.
Aside from that, I plan to take it as it comes. I want to attend as many car events as possible, and hope to participate,
instead of work them. I am sure I will find plenty to fill my days. My dad always told me after he retired “I don’t know
how I found time to work”.
Sincerely,
Mike Copeland
