best progressive release clutch

Hi--I have a LSX 454 in my 67 Camaro and am trying to figure out a clutch solution. I currently have a LS9 but the LS9 flywheel won't line up with the LSX crank. I was told that the LSA flywheel would work but can't confirm it. So I'm think the best thing to do would be buy a clutch kit that has been proven to work so I'm not piece-mealing this deal together so I am asking for members to give me feedback on a clutch that has a slightly firm pedal and a progressive release. I've tired 2 McCloed clutches in prior cars and hated the on/off release.

I have the stock GM CTS-V clutch on my LSX454 (maybe that's what you're referring to as "LSA?") but I can't say that I've driven it enough to be able to provide you with an answer. The truth is, for the number of times I've circled the block in the car, I am struggling to be smooth with the clutch and throttle. I don't know if it is having to deal with my first hydraulic clutch or my first twin-disc clutch or my first DBW throttle but I'm definitely not smooth. Like I said, haven't driven it enough to be really able to concentrate on what is different for me. I either overrev or stall it. My preliminary guess is that I just don't get the same feel with the hydraulic clutch that I'm used to from mechanical ones past. I believe there is some type of accumulator device that you can install on the clutch hydraulic line that allows you to alter the point at which the clutch engages but I don't know if that would help with that particular problem. Please keep us posted on what you find out. I can get you some GM part numbers for the clutch that works on the LSX if you need them (in fact, I have a complete spare setup that I'm going to be looking to sell at some point if you're interested).
