355 SBC Oil Pressure Issues

I've developed an oil pressure reading issue and looking for possibilities as to what it may be. Oil level is fine so it should not be a low oil situation. Anything from spun bearings to loose pickup tube, loose oil pump bolt, etc. has been discussed as possibilities. I am planning an oil pan swap very soon and will inspect further at that time. Current pump is a Moroso 22146. Switching to a Canton Road Race pan and Melling M155HV. I'm leaning more towards pump issues, but we'll see what happens when i drop the pan. Trying to get an idea of what to expect when i start digging deeper.

You want one of the new Melling Shark Tooth pumps. Along with the Canton road race oil pan also buy the matching Canton oil pump pickup which is designed to fit the Melling pumps. Just add an ST to the end of the Melling part number.

I would put a mechanical gauge on to verify what the electrical gauge is saying....

Especially since it reads less than zero some times.

I had seen the shark tooth pumps, but after speaking with Ron Sutton, he recommended the Melling M155HV when I was putting together my plan for an updated pan this winter. After doing some more research, there seems to be a high failure rate on the Auto Meter electric oil sending units. I've been busy with house remodeling this week, so tomorrow we are planning on trouble shooting and will post what we find.

Turned out to be a loose connection on the sending wire.:hand:
