I'm wondering how long it takes to get a quote on a set of custom wheels. I've asked a couple dealers on this forum and it's been a few days with no updates. I called one of them two days after no reply (for 2 days) to my pm and they said they'll get back to me. That's four days now. I don't know if that's normal or the wheel companies don't get back to the dealers soon enough or ?
Please don't say they're busy, that's not acceptable. If it takes a week to get a number I'd like to know, that's all. I just want to be kept in the loop. If quotes take a certain time, I'm good with whatever that is just tell me it takes Xxx company 3 days to get back to us or whatever. I've never bought custom wheels so this is new to me.
I called Budnik and got a price in 30 seconds but I wanted to try a dealer on here for something to compare it to. Plus I'm not sure I want them at a certain price over what I can get some other wheels for.
Now one dealer I only gave a vague description of what I wanted. That ones on me. But still. A follow up would be good business I think.

My experience has been that it depends greatly depending on the details and circumstances. On a simple straightforward car, say a monoblock standard fitment on a C7 Corvette with stock suspension and brakes, it is very quick. Like usually before the customer even hangs up the phone.

However, on a pro-touring build, it can all get very complicated very quickly. It is not uncommon to have to research certain suspension and brake components to verify size possibilities. Or sometimes I may need to consult with our engineering department to verify clearance or to make sure that a particular profile is even possible. Or sometimes I may get a customer who is interested in more than one wheel from our different wheel series or who isn't yet sure about sizes or finish options. All of these things add a lot of uncertainty to the deal and tend to stretch out quotes. If I'm waiting for help from a third party, then it can sometimes drag out.

And of course, all of that is compounded this time of year, because the phones are ringing constantly. So there are days where I go from phone call to phone call, making promises on each one to do some research and crunch some numbers, but I never actually get to do the research or crunch the numbers, until the end of the day when the phones have stopped ringing. (Or sometimes responding to forum posts at midnight.)

Not trying to make excuses for anybody. But there are certainly reasons why some of these quotes could take forever.
