Hey guys, I finally broke down and sold my streetrod and bought my dream car. I have always wanted a 69 Camaro Pace Car. I landed this one with lots of documentation as well as the protect=o-plate and all numbers matching. Its was all original and I plan to keep it that way except for the wheels. I changed them to 20X8 on the rear and 18X7 on the front and boy did I catch a lot of grief from the original owner as well as some old timers. But I love it and I think it looks better than it has ever.

Awesome!
Congrats on the purchase.
I can't believe you told the owner you were going to modify it. You're supose to keep you fringers crossed behind your back and say, "I plan on babying it and never making any modifications."
killer! how much does one of dem torque thrust 20's weigh?

Sweet ride. It's not like you can't change the wheels back some day. Piss on everyone else.

I can make it mint in about 30 minutes. I didn't lower the car or anything. I couldn't believe that I didn't have to. I guess the original springs had worn just enough. I couldn't help myself, she kept me up all night the first couple of nights She was screaming change my wheels, change my wheels. So I didn't have any other choice. Have you ever went 3 nights without sleep. Boy, she finally shut up and I got a full night's rest last night!

I'd like to get a pace car someday. I think it looks great with the new wheels, and like you said its an easy swap to make the car look stock again.

Its took me 25 years to get one. I was going with my father at age 14 to buy one and they had just sold it an hour earlier. Boy was I sick! So don't ever stop dreaming because you never know it may happen. I have several nice Camaro's and have owned some nice magazine cars in the past but never has any of them has touched me like this one has!

Old timers used to go out and buy new tires and wheels the day after they got a special edition car of anything so that they would always have the original tires for the day they sold it and wanted to make sure they could sell it with them. Everyone knows that tires and wheels can be changed and the excuses that they used back then will be like rubbing their nose in 40 yr old dog doo doo. So the next time someone says that you shouldn't have done it! Just tell them you have the originals in the garage so that they will always be ready for when you show it or sell it just like they did a long time ago and still do if your smart.
The wheels look nice and I can only guess that they handle better so raise your sense of humor on high and laugh at the people that can't change a tire and wheel, anyone with a jack and a lug wrench can fix that problem.
