Hey guys, I'm at the point in my a/c install where i was checking function. I have a vintage 3 knob billet controller which powers up and will change fan speed. The problem is i can't feel air at the defrost or upper vents. I'm almost thinking the vent blend door is stuck, or the controller is bad. Anybody have a similar experience?

The defrost/plenum and dash/floor doors use separate motors, with the floor door after the defrost door in the air path. It's unlikely both doors would be stuck. I'd be looking at the control head. Make sure that, when you screwed the PCB to the panel face, you had the insulating washers in place. They go between the aluminum face and the PCB and they also serve to retain the screws while installing. If those look good, inspect the cable between the control head and ecu for damage. Unplug the control head cable at the ecu and inspect the pins for damage or for any that are opened up and don't look like the others. The white/yellow wire is the signal for mode. The control head is pretty simple. 5v and ground (red and white) go out to the control head from the ecu, and 0-5v comes back from the three potentiometers on the white/red, white/green and white/yellow wires. It would also be worthwhile to inspect the middle potentiometer for physical damage.
If this doesn't get you going, please call the VA tech dept in the morning at 800-862-6658 or feel free to PM me and I'll make sure we get your issue solved.

Ryan,
vintage air sure fit kit in 68 Camaro, all is installed and but system yet not charged. Ran through all functions and works like it is suppose to ie vents open close def, dash, floor and variable speeds as am using 3knob set up form Dspeed. I noticed that when charging the battery the a/c fan motor will surge on and off even through rotary speed fan controller is completely to the off position. Any ideas what may be causing this and should I look into a some sort of surge protector? Primary power source to unit is connected to direct battery source as directed by installation instructions.
