I started off with a cream colored 1967 GTO I bought when I was 19(first car) and proceeded with a full makeover from suspension, wheels, brakes, 12 differential, engine and a full color change. I didn't do any body mods because I think the body style was perfect already. First I started off with removing the original 400 block and replaced it with a 455 bored and stroked with a Jim butler Pontiac rotating assembly to 474ci. Steel crank, rods, and custom dish piston to keep compression at 9.1. Dave at ad performance massaged the D port heads to flow 260 CFM, roller camshaft, stainless steel valves, custom pushrods, canton road race oil pan, power master xs starter, Harland sharp roller rockers aluminum intake, Holley carb and full Msd ignition. The engine should dyno at roughly 480 hp and 660 foot pounds of torque. I retained the original transmission which was a Turbo 400(may swap later)but now it is driving a 12 bolt diff out of a 65 Chevelle that came fully equipped with the posi 3.07 and Wilwood disc brakes. I then proceeded to the front with 7/8 wilwood master cylinder and 13 inch rotor kit from Wilwood with the six piston calipers. I have those covered by 18x9 275/35r18 rear and 18x8 255/40r18 inch foose wheels. I decided to add a stage two single adjustable Ridetech front and rear suspension so that I could not only stop and accelerate but also corner at the same time. Dale at Swartz performance hooked that up. Once all mechanicals were done it went into the paint shop, unfortunately had two really bad experiences which both shops stole from me and I ended up getting it finished by the third guy and is now a beautiful super straight dark cherry/purple color called sizzling crimson mica. Used ppg ncp280 primer, ppg Deltron base, and ppg d8188 glamour clear. All that's left is the final assembly of trim and other final touches. Incase anyone is wondering I did everything but the engine machining and the paint. Those aren't skills I have mastered yet.

Enjoy

Nice! Keep us updated! I love seeing Pontiac powered cars like this.

I have to ask....are you 100% sure those tires are 275/35/18's in the back? They look awfully tall and really fill the wheel well up nicely. I only ask because I might be in the market for some new tires for my 67 gto and i'm concerned that the 275/35/18s wouldn't have enough sidewall in the rear.

The tire looks bigger because of the drop from the Ridetech system. It just tucks in really well. The ride height will actually come down a tad more in the front and rear. I can actually go wider later on, at least a 285 or 295. Everything I did can theoretically be switch back to stock incase I sell it. I do however plan on keeping forever so I wanted to make it mine. Thank you for the kind words about the body shop. I have long forgotten about the first one but the second one was the real character.

The best thing to do is find someone local with the same wheel and borrow it. That's what I did before I picked a size wheel and tire.
