Anyone running the 3" Dynomax Super Turbo 17743 with an engine making in excess of 500hp?
440 stroker
Comp 248/260 SR .577/.589 113lsa (1.6 rockers)
KRE 310cfm D-ports
Tomahawk 120x230 ports
Shaker455 tuned 950HP
As much as I love the sound of my Pypes RacePros with the full 3" exhaust all the way out the back... the neighbors don't. So I have to do something other than the "straight through" mufflers (MF, Goerlich, Borla) and quiet things down if I want to drive the car more often.
Thoughts? How much will the STs choke down the power of the 440?

I've got the 2.5 inch hemi super turbos with the 20 inch case.i haven't dynoed the motor but it's an olds 455 full sequential EFI. The few times that I've got to run it seem pretty quiet. A little bit louder than a factory Tahoe, so mission accomplished for me

That 2.5" diameter / 20" long Dynomax is the 17749 if I remember correctly... it was the favored muffler of Jim Hand on his 11-second Pontiac station wagon and he tested several mufflers: http://www.pontiacstreetperformance.com/psp/exhaust.html Jim Hand also favored the X over the H but with the BMR torque arm on my car I could only fit an H and I'm doubtful that I could fit a 20" muffler under a 2nd Gen F-body.
I wish they made the 20" long muffler in a 3" but they don't so I'm restricted to using their 17743 muffler which is 3" in/out but in a 14" case like my RacePros.
I'm leaning more and more toward the STs and have investigated the Dynomax VTs but they too are a straight through design like the RacePro, MF, Borla and with a big cam and power Dynomax said they'd "flap" at idle and likely stay open all the time and be just as loud as a straight through muffler at speed.

The car pictured is a 78 trans am
I had to build a custom crossmember and install a 4 link
But so far no scrapes
The other thing you can do is add resonators at the tip if 14 case is to loud
