I am building a 2nd gen (1978) trans am. The car will be 90% street 10% autocross. I am trying to determine which aftermarket sub frame to run. I am running a fuel injected pontiac 400 and 700 r4 trans. Anyone want to make a case for either the dse subframe or the Heidt pro g frame?

The two clips you mention are really apples and oranges in pretty much every aspect. Have you considered the Chassisworks front clip? It has many unique features and is designed, engineered, and manufactured in-house at our Sacramento, CA facility. It's street and track proven. It has more options than any other front clip which allows you to custom configure a suspension system for your particular driving style whether it be mostly cruising, commuting, or all-out track warfare.

I'm running a DSE sub and have been very pleased with it. Fit and finish is extremely nice and it is the only sub on the market with hydroformed frame rails. It allows for a 10" wheel and is basically a bolt in replacement for the stock sub. If I had to buy a new sub today I would go with DSE again in a heartbeat. I suppose if one is looking for a sub that will give you 110% performance there are newer designs on the market that claim to have better suspension geometry but I can and have been able to hang with a C6 Corvette thru a twisty Blue Ridge mountain pass. That said, you need to spend time looking at the various manufacturers and comparing features that meet your requirements. All of our sponsors manufacture great quality products so the more research you do the better informed decision you can make. You basically can't make a bad choice as long as you buy from one of our site sponsors. I spent the better part of a year just researching and comparing suspensions before I purchased any suspension parts.

I totally agree with JDman. Everyone I know that opted for the DSE frame has been blown away with the fit and finish. Having the ability to safely fit that wide front wheel is a huge plus. A lot of the guys that attend Blackhawk cars and coffee in danville run the DSE front clip. The DSE reputation speaks for it self.

What type and brand are you running for your rear suspension?

I am running the Heidt IRS which is one of the reasons I was considering the Heidt front subframe.
