I'm hoping to put a used LS3 with its existing transmission out of a 2011 SS Camaro into my 67 Camaro. The trans is a TR6060. The Shifter is 11" back from where it needs to be. What would be the best way to modify this? Thx!

You can install a t56 Magnum main shaft, shift rail, tail housing, and shifter. http://www.ddperformance.com/t-56-magnum-tr-6060-6-speed/

Depending on what you could sell the trans for, it might be easier to sell the tr6060 and buy a Magnum. You'd have more options for bell housings and clutches, and you could go with the closer gear set if you don't specifically want the wide ratios in that Camaro trans.

If I'm building this Camaro with an eye on performing well around the orange cones; what gear ratios would be best in a 6 speed manual?

I have 373 gears in rear end.

If you haven't been able to get an answer to this let me know and I can run some scenarios for you to give you an idea of what RPM/speed range you would be at in each gear. I see that you are using a 3.73 rear gear, what's your rear tire size? Thanks

Even after you spend the time and money to modify your TR6060 you will still have a wide ratio gearbox. To be honest, I think you would be money ahead to sell the TR6060 outright and purchase a new close ratio T56 Magnum. The close ratio Tremec pn TUET11009 LS T56 Magnum with 2.66 1st 1.78 2nd 1.30 3rd 1.00 4th .80 5th .63 6th 2.90 rev. is the probably the most commonly used version for auto-x and track days. The 3.73 rear gear would be as good a starting place as any. I'm running this transmission with a 3.90 rear gear and I need to shift to 2nd almost immediately after leaving the start.

Here is a great Tremec gear ratio calculator. http://tremec.com/calculadora.php

I agree with Steve on that. Even with the short amount of time I've been dealing with these transmissions I've already seen a fair share of guys who have invested more in a factory take out than if they would've just bought a new T-56.

I am in the middle of putting a TR6060 in my 1980 Z28. You will need a custom driveshaft to adapt the flange output shaft. I just ordered a driveshaft from The Driveshaft Shop that has a CV on the trans end and a U Joint at the diff. The CV will help with any angle miss match. As for the shifter I adapted it to mount through the 4speed hole and on top of the centre hump. It is actually in a perfect position now. You can check out my write up on Nasty Z28. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=293988&page=2. After that there is the trans cooler lines that need to be taken care of and hydraulic clutch.
