Detroit Speed Kit #1 for GM A body...

Has anybody used the DSE Kit #1 on there GM A body? It comes with spindles, upper and lower control arms..

Can I use my stock 69 El Camino brake rotors and brackets with there spindle?

I want to use regular springs and fixed upper front control arms on my 69 El Camino..

i have not used there kit but from the mounting points they should fit. i would call them to confirm for sure

They just sent me a very polite e-mail and said the stock A body brackets and rotors will bolt right up...

I want to do a piece at a time since I'm on a budget... I don't make enough money to experiment on cheap parts and from what I've read, there stuff seems to be some of the best..

That'll work great on your car. The spindle is stock style for brake mounting purposes, but will provide a 2" drop and better camber gain.

Nothing wrong with doing the upgrade one step at a time, although be careful since you may have to get it aligned multiple times if you do go that route. (Be sure to get it aligned according to the specs DSE provides!)

The first thing I would do is replace the steering box with the Jeep box. See my post today. The upper control arm needs to be replaced at the same as the spindles. Most of the time you will find out that the front end cannot be aligned after you replace the front spindles. If you replace the upper control arm first it needs to be aligned. You will waste the price of an alignment. If you replace the lower arm it may or may not need to be aligned. When you replace the springs front or rear or both it will need to be aligned. If you are not a serious pro-touring competitor I would not replace the lower arm. I WOULD replace the bushing in it .
If I was to do anything it would be to replace or reinforce the rear lower arm with new bushing and replace the upper with a adjustable arms. Later on you may need it to adjust drive shaft angles.
