Hey guys,
I have been a long time lurker on the forum, finally signed up today as I think I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I found a 69 up in SF (I'm in Los Angeles) and was planning on flying up there tomorrow to check it out and possibly purchase if all looks good. Was wondering if you guys could give me some insight on what to look for with the car and what you think it's worth - here is the CL link: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/5442343344.html

Thanks in advance!

Nice looking car... for that $42.5K price, I would expect everything to work.
I would go in assuming that it's not a "real" SS, unless he can prove it.

IMO, $35K would be more in the ballpark on this one.

Be sure to put it up on a lift and do a close inspection.
Check lower fenders and outer wheel-wells with a magnet.

There is a lot to look for. The car is a nice one, but not sure 42K is where it's at. Not saying it's not but check it out. Do take a magnet and a soft cloth with you to check for body repair. Be doubly sure to check the floor boards. Those go quick. (rust). check above the rear wheels (the quarters) Rust starts there pretty often too. The lower front fenders behind the tires, open the doors and look at the front of the door at the bottom. And don't be shy about asking a ton of questions. If the seller seems reluctant to answer some of them ask why. Don't be a Butt, just ask because you need to know. The horn and radio do need to be working for the price. I know it's not a big thing, but it's a big price they should work. And finally.... see what he will take for it cash.

Good luck either way, and let us know how it goes..
