I might have a buyer for the stock 4 speed out of my 79 Trans Am. I want to put in a TKO500 and need to know if there is anything out of the original package I will need to keep. The guy asked for everything 4 speed related. I assume he means the bellhousing, Hurst shifter, tranny and possibly any mounts. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oh yeah, and any ideas on how much I should ask for it all? Think $500 would be too much?

I sold a rebuilt M-21 a couple years ago for $450+shipping. Sold the shifter and everything else seperate. I presume it has the T-10 in it? I'm sure $500 is about right, but if your selling everything as a package thats a steal. As for parts for the swap I don't think you retain anything except the bellhousing...not positive though.

Wow I was worried about being OVER priced. Do you think $700 for everything including the bellhousing, tranny and shifter?

This is the T-10 with the Hurst 4 speed shifter. I just want to get as much out of it as possible to put towards my TKO500, without losing the sale.

I sold my 4 speed T-10 that was completely destroyed beyond anything you can imagine with the bell housing and Hurst shifter for well over $350.00 on e-bay. I think it was actually closer to $400.00. I was shocked how much I made off of a crappy destroyed tranny.
Then I sold the clutch, flywheel, and crossmember and made even more money!!!

Yikes. Maybe I should just pull it all out and go that route. I am thinking of buying an engine hoist anyway. Maybe it is just time. Sounds like if I sold it more, I could get the engine hoist AND make about 500 bucks off of it at the same time.

Can't you use you bellhousing for the TKO? And I bet by 'everything', he wants linkage and pedals too, which you will need.

Unless you like buying new stuff for no reason.

Yeah I LOVE to buy new stuff I dont need. LOL

From the advise of several sources I will probably go with a blow-proof housing.

What did you end up getting for it?

I have a muncie now and am looking to get rid of my T-10, hurst shifter, and (maybe) the bellhousing.

Is it worth $700.00?

I sold everything for 700. After doing a little research on the Pontiac forums, I realized it was pretty fair. I had a few interests in it...although I delivered it to the guy 3 hours away at no cost.

Good luck with the sale! Let me know if you need anything else.
