I have a 69 Mustang Mach 1 that I am wanting to install a Wilwood pedal kit into. Initially, I wanted to do this for the looks, but after doing a lot of internet reading I can see a lot of benefits to these kits as well. I am mechanically skilled but I lack in this area, so I need some guidance.

Currently my car has:

14" 6 piston Wilwood front brakes
Stock 1969 Mach 1 power brake booster and master cylinder
Stock Lincoln Versailles rear disc brakes
Cable clutch for 5 speed transmission conversion.

I am wanting to install something like this

Here is the kit in other 69 Mustangs

Is this a reasonable upgrade, or is this only for highly modified cars?

Do I need to ditch my power brakes? Do I need to upgrade to a hydraulic clutch?

or

Can I keep my power brakes and manual clutch?

Maybe this is out of my league and I need to suck it up and stick with the ugly stock pedals?

Any advice would be appreciated. I would like to know what other parts are necessary.

Curious to any real feedback as well. I'll be going down this route shortly as well.

Mechanical skills are one thing, how are your welding and fabrication skills? You're basically going to have to cut out the firewall mounting points, and start fresh as it's not quite a bolt in deal. I'm doing it because the Wilwood guy said it would be a great upgrade, but also because I will have my car stripped down to a bare shell, and it would be the only time I would consider doing it, so I'm doing it now and smoothing the firewall while I'm at it. To try and do it to an already done car will require substantial disassembly. I'm also doing it because eventually I want to convert to a 6 speed, so then I'll have the hydraulic master cylinder ready to go. If you're wanting to keep your mechanical clutch, that's something that won't benefit you. And you will have to dump your power brakes and anything original pertaining to brakes on the firewall.

Seeing as how you want to keep the mechanical clutch linkage, and it looks like your car is intact, I don't know if you'll benefit from the work needed to install this.

Right now my motor is in my car but my complete dash is out of the car. My fabrication skills are good; I replaced all rusted metal in my car, did ground up restoration with my dad, shaved the engine bay and other areas of the car.

I'm not completely against the hydraulic clutch, but I have just heard of more issues with hydraulic rather than cable. I plan to upgrade to a 6 speed in the future also, so are you saying I need the hydraulic clutch for a 6 speed? I havnt heard that before.
