Hey all,
What hand cleaner is best for getting your hands clean after working on your car? I have had decent success with Fast Orange, but I bet there's probably better stuff out there.
Thanks!

Best stuff I've found is called Stoko, I think Kresto makes it. Local paint shop sells it for around $40 a bottle. That stuff could clean paint off a car if you wanted to haha.

I use Fast Orange, I also add a little Dawn Dishwashing detergent if my hands are really dirty.

I like Joe's all purpose hand cleaner. It's smooth and cherry scented. Anything I've used with pumice is garbage. I've used others with no pumice that worked pretty well but left more of an oily feel and chemical smell. Joe's doesn't.
I usually buy it at O'Reilly http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/JOE0/101P/N0017.oap?ck=Search_N0017_-1_3746&pt=N0017&ppt=C1942
And I use one of these pumps http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/GOJ0/1204/N0017.oap?ck=Search_N0017_-1_3746&pt=N0017&ppt=C1942
I didn't realize it came in bigger sizes. Looks like it's about $17 cheaper to buy 5 gallons than to buy the same amount in the smaller containers. I'll have to get a 5 gallon bucket and just refill my smaller one.

May sound odd, but clean engine oil first to remove the grime followed by any good hand cleaner/soap.

I have used GOJO for over 40 years with no complaints.

I'll have to agree with Steve. GoJo was around when the others wasn't even around. I can't tell you how much of that stuff I've gone through in my lifetime.

Gojo with pumice.

GoJo without pumice for me. Where I work, we wash our hands up to twenty times a day and pumice doesn't come off without water and leaves you feeling like you're missing a few layers of skin.
FWIW--My engine builder forbids anything with pumice in his shop.

I feel like pumice is a band-aid fix for a crappy product. Good hand cleaner works without rubbing your hands raw.

I used Gojo for the first time in a while today because it's all they have at the location where I currently am. I agree it's a joke. I mentioned Joe's before. I love that stuff compared to Gojo.
Prosoap looks interesting. It's not cheap. $28 for 3/lbs which they claims is good for 800 hand washings. Maybe if people were washing clean hands, but I can't imagine 3 lbs would last that long on greasy hands. Joe's is about 1/2 that price. Does it seem like you use less of Prosoap compared to others?

Kresto. Works better than Fast Orange in my opinion.

Best tip I have is to use GOOP, the white, greasy snot hand cleaner, before I start working, rub it in well and wipe off the extra. Gets into the pores of your hands, under nails and makes clean up easier.

Was a dealer tech for 20 years before opening my own shop. I've used them all. Nothing works better than Zep TKO. Stoko is great for body shops and getting paint off your hands, but TKO works best for grease and grime. Try it once and you'll never use anything else.

Here lately I have taken to having a spray bottle filled with diluted Simple Green handy and it is working well.

I don't know if this is available to anyone but shops but we use the Gojo Supro Max and it rules! No off the shelf cleaner even comes close unless you use dish soap and a scrubber.

In the past I've used Fast Orange but the last six months I have been wearing nitrile
gloves. The gloves clean up better than my skin and when I'm done in the garage I
use hand soap to wash the dried sweat off my hands. I no longer have trouble with
the skin splitting on my finger tips.
Now I have a half gallon of Fast Orange and no use for it.

I think some use it to clean plug wires, rubber hoses and such.

I know welcome to last year but GoJo scrubbing towels are phenomenal. Ive tried tons of products as I dont have water in my shop because of a bylaw and I just use these things no water needed. If they start to dry out take the lid off and pour in a cup of water, shake and youre good as new. Amazing.
