Hi all. I have a 71 Cutlass with a 455 and a March Performance "Ultra" bracket kit. I currently run a P style power steering pump that the bracket was made for but I will be going with a hydroboost set up and a type II Turn One power steering pump. I have contacted March and although they do make a different bracket kit that will accommodate a type II pump they do not offer any sort of mounting solutions for my bracket set and I'd rather not buy another bracket kit.

Does anyone know of or have any ideas on making a P type to type II adapter bracket or should I just accept the fact that there will be some fab work involved in mounting my new pump?

Thanks,
Don

Why not just keep the type II pump? (correction, I mean P pump) There are plenty of cars around running that pump with Hydroboost systems. Just add a second return fitting to the reservoir.

The car currently has a Saginaw P style pump and I'm trying to go to a type II, just need an adapter plate or something to make it bolt to my March bracket. In case you meant why not keep the P? I'm going with 6 piston calipers on all 4 corners and I ordered a new steering box and the pump is being calibrated for the box and hydroboost.

i had to fab the type II pump onto my motor plate to fit my 455, probably not much help to you but when i did mine there weren't any bracket kits on the market.

I'm thinking I'll have to get creative trying to mount this pump to the bracket. I was just hoping some company made some sort of adaptor bracket for us Olds guys... Wishful thinking I guess.

Sorry, I meant keep your type P pump. All the saginaw pumps are nearly identical internally. You could easily get your P pump re-valved to work just fine.

yeah unfortunately the olds aren't as popular as others, but it isn't anything a torch and welder can't fix. i had an alternator bracket form BOP engineering that was a stand alone bracket but i don't know if it'll fit the type 2 pump, i don't have the car anymore to check it out, but if you want to leave me your email i can send you a pic with measurements you could compare to your pump.
