Just bought the car a week ago. It's originally a 79 Z that has already had the nose and tail converted in terms of the sheetmetal work. But the original tail lights harness is still intact, which of course is totally different from the 70. The 79 has separate marker/brakes and blinkers and reverse, where the 70 has a common marker/brake/blinker and then a reverse. So I need some direction. I know that there are several people on here that have done the conversion, and I've searched through the rear conversion threads, but I'm not finding anything that specifically addresses the wiring of the lights themselves.

And please don't start pounding on me about cutting up a 79 to make a 70. I didn't do it in the first place. I wanted a 70-73, found this car at a good price and went for it. Yes, I know the rear window is different, but I can live with that. I just need help with these lights. Thanks in advance, fellas.

There are diode boxes available for hooking a trailer with integrated turn/brake lights to a vehicle with separate turn/brake lights that might suit your needs. Check at a parts house that sells trailer supplies. It's been a long time since I fooled with anything like that, but as I recall it was an easy hook up.

Agree, a trailer light converter would be your best bet. Something like this.
