I have been searching my ass off on this, figured you guys were the best resource. Truck is a 79 C10. It's getting a 4.5/6 static drop and I want to use 18" wheels, that much I'm sure of. I would prefer to go with 18x10 or bigger all around, but it's cost prohibitive for me at the moment. I'd like to stay under $250 a wheel. That seems to leave me with mostly 18x9 4wd style wheels, but there are some that are okay.

If I do end up with an 18x9, I'd like to run a 275 tire. From what I can gather that combo should use a 4.5 or even 4" backspace to look right and not be too tucked in. Can anyone confirm this, or give me an alternative (like a place to find a reasonably priced 18x10+ wheel)

Check out the guys over at 67-72chevytrucks.com they have pretty much fit every size of wheel under a c10 with every drop.

I am running 18x9 US mags on my c1500. Same bolt pattern and offset you would need. Not sure if they have a 10" wheel. I'm running the one piece rambler. It's a freaking sweet wheel and should fall with in your budget.

I'd love too, unfortunately their 3rd step verification process somehow never gets to me. I never get the verification email that I'm not a spambot.

That is the exact wheel I want (in an 18x9)!! Where did you buy it from, it seems like they're all over the place but finding a set actually in stock is not easy.

Mind me asking what your tire size and backspace numbers are? Any pics?

That's crappy.. Well you can fit up to a 12" wheel with the right back spacing. I currently run 20x10 with a +50mm offset, but have a wider rear axle, and 1.25" spacer in the front. And those have 305/30-20 tires. And I am running 11" of drop.

When I started, I was running a set of 18"x9" Pro Comps (5x127 Jeep wheels) with a 275/35 Falken 615 on my '71. They had 5" backspace. The front worked great, looked great. The rears were too far inset to look good IMHO, but they did work great and the bang for the buck factor was high. Very high.

Actually found them on ebay. I spoke to a sales person and he was really helpfull. He said he was selling the wheel as fast as they could get em. In fact we got two wheels in a few days and two others a week later. Check out my build thread for specs and pics.

There are pictures of the wheels on the truck here:

18x8 up front with 245s, 18x9.5 out back with 275s. Now that they are mounted 285s would be perfect but the 275s will do till they are balled.

Wow that really looks great on the truck. What series are those tires?

I'm pretty sure the fronts we ended up with 245/45s and rears 275/45s. Kinda wish we had gone with 285s on the rear but they look good.
