View Full Version : LT1 DIY programming - who has done this?

So i've bought a Chevy Caprice with the 5.7 LT1 which is going into my trackday car, which will then be converted to a leisure drift car. Nothing fancy or crazy just looking to hit 300 bhp at the wheels. And with it's standard 260 bhp it can easily be reached with some bolt-on mods, cam change and ecu reprogramming.

Now i've got a couple of options in terms of the ecu:
- i could do the bolt on mods and see where that leaves me but i hear a lot of people telling me to go for roller rockers and changing the cam
- to redo the ecu i could get a mail order pcm tune
- or i could redo the ecu myself

So two mayor questions which could help me with this point
- who are the established names that can supply a good mail order pcm tune - as i'm in Europe (Belgium) there is no actual way for me to have it fully custom done on a dyno
- but what i'm most curious about > has anyone reprogrammed their ecu themselves using off the shelf software and no previous experience?
