I've got a set of Billet specialties laguna wheels on my 70 camaro, i like the wheels but thinking of changing the look. Whats the best way to brush the centers for a machined look or possibly paint them?

Scotchbrite pads will give it a brushed look. It's just a pain in the corners of the wheels though.

iv done a set of bonspeed wheels before and just taped the lip off ans scuffed the center and used a self adhesive primer my case dupont variprime then seal and paint and clear as normal and iv done the brushed look on aluminum pannels before and started with sand paper various grits course to fine then finished with scotch brite bad to give it depth then just sprayed clear laquer over it to make easier to clean

The wheels look sweet as is but I am also a fan of the brushed look. Do you have any side shots of the car?

Here's a side pic. What grit of sandpaper? Green or maroon scotch brite? I appreciate the info, I definitely don't want to screw this up, wheels are only a few months old.

Why not just plasti dip them? I did my polished TT II's and I couldn't be happier. --> https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/106769-Plasti-Dipped-Torq-Thrust-IIs-and-New-BFG-G-Force-Tires-On-67-Camaro?highlight=
Best of all, if you want to try a different color or don't like the look it just peels right off. It's awesome stuff.
I think a flat black center would really compliment your paint nicely.

I second the Plasti-dip. You can color coat the center and then clear the entire wheel. This stuff actually acts as a protector for the wheel. I would sure do Plasti-Dip way before I started sanding on an expensive set of wheels.

And definitely look into plasti dip. I'm getting my whole car done that way. It has come a long way in a short time. Good luck!!
