Been surfing the forum and find it crazy seeing people post LS questions, update builds, talk suspension, and everything else but the carburetor page has threads that are months old with no updates still on the first page. I've made a couple for sale posts or even update my build thread and it gets pushed to the next page within a day or two.

Is anyone using carburetors on this forum? Maybe all the carburetor people are out enjoying their cars running/driving while all the efi tech guys are sitting on the computer talking about their systems. Maybe there just isn't too much tech to ask about a carburetor...idle speed, mixture screws, jets, air bleeds and away you go.

What's a carburetor?

Quadrajet fan here...

Just set my new engine up to run with the same Quadrajet...

Engine builder asked me before the dyno session if I really wanted to run the Quadrajet on this engine.

After a couple of pulls I asked him back if he still wanted to put a Holley on it? :D

That's awesome you put together an engine and used a quadrajet. It probably performs well with no hiccups on autocross because the fuel bowl is in the center of the carb.

I have a CarbShop/CSU blow-through carb. Does that count?

I am running an old Holley double pumper on my car still. Figured I would try to do the best I could with it. I have/had it tuned very well for the engine ...that is until I have turned the car more into a handling car. It was set up originally for drag racing so will have to re-tweek it for the rigors of autocross and track days.

I have already discovered that hard braking will flood the carb and kill the engine. This made me look at the vent system... for now have a hose with a hole on top connecting both vents... seems to help alot.

Need to look at changing the floats but not sure of what else to do. If anyone has experience with Holley double pumpers tuned to autocross & roadracing...I welcome all advice and suggestions.

Cheers, Brew

Brew, roadrace floats will help out quite a bit. Also, the fuel bowl vent whistle helps as well, my Holley Street HP came with them. I haven't had any issue with fuel coming out the vent tubes. Don't set the fuel level in the bowls too high either, of course too low doesn't help either.

The newer HP style carbs (Holley, Quick Fuel, Demon, etc) do a much better job than the old style Holleys. I find them easier to get them tuned right. But then you have to buy one, so I would work with what you have first.

Thanks for the info Randy. I am thinking about using the Quick Fuel road race float kit kit info here (http://www.quickfueltechnology.com/carb-components/fuel-bowl-components/4-bbl-road-race-float-kit.html) .
I was also going to replace the redneck engineered hose connecting the bowl vents together with one of these...Avenger crossover tube (http://www.carburetion.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?Part=CUD4992) .

Do you guys recommend any online shops preferably in the North East that would carry this stuff?

I gave up on carburetors pretty recently--last summer. My last was a Holley Street Avenger, and generally speaking, it worked pretty well. I decided to drink the LS Kool-Aid, however, and part of my decision to do that involved the cost of carb-related parts, along with their relative longevity (not great). You can get a very good, complete LS truck intake, including injectors and fuel rails, on e-Bay for like $150 bucks. I ran out of reasons to use a carburetor (and a Ford small block, but that's another story) . . .

I'm running a carbed LS! So far, my only issue has been a rich idle. I just recently realized I'm running too much fuel pressure. I'm currently working on installing a pressure regulator.

Have a 350 with a Qjet. Building a 383 to replace it. With a Qjet on it. :)
