Trying to decide what route to go with my wiring harness. I already have everything I need to operate my engine, (ls3 with GMPP computer and harness) and my gauges will probably tie into that harness as well. I could buy a painless or AAW harness for a 70 mustang, but I am wondering if that is a waste of money and some extra weight as I am not using half of the connections on the original harness. Really the only original stuff that I plan to use is the lights and wipers. I plan to mount the turn signal switch and horn on the console. I have a vintage air setup, so I wont need the original heater and fan wiring. I will be keeping all the original controls/ switches on the dash, which isn't much, basically lights wipers and cig lighter. the battery will be behind the passenger seat, and I probably wont mount the starter solenoid in the original location, so much of the original style harness will not be routed correctly anyway.

would I be money ahead using a generic hot rod style wiring harness? any one done anything similar?

Cheers.

this should give you a good idea what I am working with.

I would go with AAW but one of their highway systems, that way you can pick the one with the circuits you need.

Most are based on using GM parts. So change the ignition and headlight switch and your ready to go. Or modify the harness to work with the oem switch.

Ease of installation between AAW and Painless are the same, lots of support for either one. Most members here use AAW and can help troubleshoot.
