I think Formula 43 is circling the drain, which is sad since they make a really nice wheel, had quick build times, and excellent service. Travis Johnson their long time sales rep is no longer there. The parent company makes the spin forming machines that form the wheel barrels and I think their main focus is making the machines, not the wheels.
Detroit Speed is no longer selling them so take that for what it's worth.

Fikse had a pretty bad reputation for delivery before the ownership change, I don't know if the new owners fixed that or not.

I've heard a lot of discussion about Formula 43 going down and agree to be cautious. Travis was terrific to work with when I bought mine. For what its worth I will say that I called and emailed them yesterday to ask about new inner barrels for my wheels so I can move to a different tire sizing. They didn't call me back but I did get a reply from them via email this morning asking for additional data to get a quote to me. I was worried I would never get a reply.

If you decide against these options, then you could also consider the Forgeline FF3. http://www.forgeline.com/products/heritage-series/ff3-17-18-19-20.html

I have to agree about Formula 43 giving the impression that they are circling the drain. I tried to get a quote on new barrels for my wheels. Called and emailed several times for a whole month. Never heard anything. After about 5 weeks I got a email saying they didn't offer the sizes I wanted but there may be able to do them on a future order. After a few more weeks I got another email saying they could do the sizes I wanted. Not returning calls or emails for several days/weeks or a month is not a business practice that gives me warm fuzzy feelings when I'm spending that much of my hard earned money. It's a shame too. Travis was great to work with and they were awesome wheels. Ended up selling the wheels and ordering a set of Forgelines.

Those wheels are beautiful. I love the pic of them just laying there mounted.

A good friend of mine works at Fiske and gave me a tour of the shop, it's a small operation that turns out a good product and on time. All the guys are dedicated.

Those wheels are beautiful, but a bit pricey.

You know the story about the two brothers who sell melons, right?

Two brothers decide that they are going to start a melon business. So they make contact with a farm, in Georgia, and then they start driving down to Georgia, buy a truckload of melons at 50 cents each, drive them back up to Ohio, and sell them for 50 cents each. They do this for several months, before they realize that they aren't making any money. So on their next trip down to Georgia, they are discussing what they should do to improve profitability. After a long contemplative silence, finally the one brother speaks. "I've got it!", he says, "We just need a bigger truck."

LoL! After looking at the prices on the other wheels, I had edited that part out. :)

Oops, sorry, I missed the "S" split spoke reference, on your original post. Doh! So in that case, Gary is on it; the Performance Series DS3 would be the similar style.

You can also view all of our styles on one page at this link: http://www.forgeline.com/wheel.php

I can't find any photos in matte. But I've got several shots of Jim Stehlin's wheels with Satin Black centers and Gloss Black outers (with an optional red pinstripe).
