Hey guys,
I have 18 X 8.5" front rims, what size tires can I fit with a stock subframe? It will be a bit lower than stock height.
I do not mind a little tire rub at full lock.
I am thinking something like a 245 45 R 18.
Thank you.

What is the backspace on the wheels? That is a big factor to determine what size tire.

You can fit a 255/35/18 on a 69 if you dont mind a slight frame rub, but need to measure for backspace on your specific car/setup. Certain sway bars can interfere as well.

Thanks guys.
I will be using OEM Corvette wheels so I will have spacers/adapters installed.
I believe the back space is 7" without adapters.
The 255/35/18 does not come up @ Discount Tires.

You will probably end up with 2" spacer, give or take a little. Billet aluminum spacers can be ordered in various thickness and lug patterns. That tire is tough to find, guess its possible they dont make them anymore. It was a while ago that I ran them. May have to go to a 40 for good selection. You can probably run the stock C5 size tires and be good. I always try to squeeze most tire that will fit under the car :)

The OEM C6 tire size is 245/40R18...lots of options in that size. Those run about 25.7" tall on an 18x8.5" wheel per the specs, but will vary slightly depending on the tire. The factory offset on the wheel is 56mm, which equates to about 6.84" backspacing, so a wheel spacer in the 1.75 to 2.00 inch range would be appropriate I would think depending on ride height, static camber, etc.

I run 245/45/18 and they are fine. And 275 in the back. My car is lowered 2 inches

Typically using a stock sub, for a 245/40/17 or 18 rim, the optimum BS is 4 7/8". I have this BS on 17" and 18" rims with 245 tire and it works well. One car is stock sub with DSE coilover and the other car is stock sub with Hotchkis springs.
