Hey guys, getting really close to the point where I will be ready to order a wire harness for the car and was hoping you guys could maybe throw up some pics of where you located the fuse box and how you wired up the dash.
Based on what I have read, I believe the AAW kit is right for my needs, so...
Here's where I am,
Car: 1966 Pontiac Tempest Custom
Engine: LS1
Controller: PSI harness for a DBW LS1 (Alternator control, fan control, fuel pump relay), which will mount on a flat plate under dash; likely the DBW box will mount on the underside of the same plate (firewall is smoothed so I don't want to mount anything else there; DBW pedal is mounted to studs we welded to the firewall and bodyworked) - basically supply power and a ground; side note water temp sensor in stock location used by this harness for CPU monitoring.
20 gallon fuel cell with Aeromotive Eliminator EFI (just in case I ever decide to add a blower or turbo, got plenty of fuel)
Air Conditioning: Vintage air unit direct fit (glove box removed and smoothed out, so no issues with room) - again, basically supply power and ground
Headlights: converted to halogen bulbs in a sealed beam looking housing; included are pigtails to plug into stock harness
Taillights: stock replacement
Windshield wipers: Raingear hidden system - requires reverse than factory harness wiring (more of that later if anyone needs)
Everything else: gutted and thrown out, I mean EVERYTHING: courtesy lights and switches, dome light, brake switch - it was all dry rotted and grounding somewhere
Gages: Thinking Speedhut for the ability to customize.
Speedo with GPS is cool, no additional hookups;
tach - no clue, suggestions?;
water temp - how to do this with the stock location already taken up?
Oil temp - stock location at oil cooler bypass available (already has a GM electrical sender installed)
Oil Pressure - stock location behind intake manifold available (already has GM electrical sender installed)
Fuel gage - sender in the fuel cell
Future: I would like to add a nice radio, nothing fancy, maybe something double din to look more modern sized, with blue tooth and USB plug in and charging, good speakers (not into boom boxes, but back seat is deleted and blocked by roll cage so something could go there.
Comments, feedback, questions, and hopefully pics please.
