So after looking on the website for ideas and different ways about doing stuff for my projects, i decided its time to show what im working on. My car is a 1970 monte carlo, blue on blue non vynal top bench seat car, small block automatic. It started out as a car just to restore and drive to highschool but that dream fell short when i started getting into the car. The heads needed work, the brakes were shot, the body needed work, the trans pan was leaking, and the wiring was butchered. The monte carlo got some of those areas addressed but ultimately the car sat for awhile not really getting attention until a few years ago. Now I have graduated from Automotive Training Center, work full time at a shop as an ASE certified technician (just passed a6 and a8 recently), and have a wife and kid to spend time with so the car is slowly getting going, the heads have been rebuild and the top end completely changed to a setup ready to see 7000 rpm all day long, the automatic is long gone and a tremec 3550 was just purchased to take its place, the brakes consist of ls1 rear and c5 front brakes and theres a lot more to come from this car. The little kid in the photo with the white fenders is my younger brother, hes working off the tool box i got off the matco guy for him and he loves getting his hands on the car

Great project title. What's the basic plan?

Oh and I'm not sure your brother will appreciate being called a "little kid"..... :dunno:

thanks, the plan is to build a very streetable twin turbo small block car that will go undetected when driving down the road, im gonna get the car to a point where i can take the car down the road reliably with the carbed small block and upgraded suspension and then ill determine the final powerplant, a lot of the parts get assembled or worked on at my job before going back to the garage so alot of it gets pretty spread out

so far the chassis will consist of cpp c5 spindles, spc fully adjustable uppers, tall ball joints, proforged steering, soon will have a jeep box and ridetech coilovers all around with front lower strong arms or the global west extended travel lowers. its has a 10 bolt i picked up for 50 bucks to get it rolling again, last 10 bolt i sold for 750 after installing a richmond locker, 373 and seal kit (had the parts cheap so couldnt pass up the profit) it has f body rear brakes, umi adjustable uppers, factory lowers that i boxed, and will have coilovers.

wheels are undecided, and further body mods are also undecided, ill have the trans in for mockup and to rebuild the tunnel next week so hopefully pics will be up soon after.

and for the donate video haha, the car hasnt been sitting that long, I'm only 22 years old now

No no, I didn't mean you should donate your car. It's just a funny video that has a Monte in it that looks like yours, when you started.

Great to see another first Gen Monte on here. I'm building a 70 also.

so a little more work needs to be done before i can slap the trans in for good but i got time to slide the trans up in place after cutting a hole in the tunnel, the trans is a tremec 3550 out of a mustang, i machined the bearing retainer on a brake lathe, shortened teh input shaft with a cut off wheel and need to decide whether to drill and tap for the mount or make a new crossmember, the trans will be using a mechanical clutch set up, chevy flywheel, pressure plate and throw out bearing with a ford clutch disc until i get the gm 26 spline input ( probably not till the 10 spline breaks) the shifter stick is mainly for mock up and lack of funds at the time, it was made from an old spare tire let down tool my work was throwing away, it was cut, heated, bent and welded to the base of the pro 5.0 shifter stick. cheapo pepboys knob just temporary, a new short throw shifter, stick and ball will come as soon as the wheels are back on the ground and the small block retuned. the stick still needs to be shortened and re bent a bit forward to get the proper position.

been awhile since i have even logged into the site, most of my suspension has been purchased and some installed, coilovers from ridetech, global west lower control arms, spc uppers and proforged balljoints and steering kit. i have torn the tremec down to get a better look at it. the trans has been proshifted by liberty by the previous owner and its clean besides the slightly twisted input shaft ( which im swapping for a gm input anyway ) the car has been all budget purchases lately, used shifter stick, pepboys shift knob, used lakewood bellhousing and a used gm flywheel. a lot of body mods soon as you guys can also see, dont worry the chevelle hood was rotting from underneath so it became the perfect canidate for the mod and the bumpers will be in plastidip for awhile until i decide chrome or not.128248128249128250128251128252128253
