A friend of mine told me I should visit this forum to get all the informations I would need. So here I am.

My name is Alex, I live in France near Germany. I just finished the build of my Chevelle and would now need to improve the handling.

My ride is a 1971 350 SS Chevelle that I own for 24 years now.
After a big surgery the car ended with a twin turbo SBC and AWD transmission. This is a breeze to drive on the street.

Here is my car in street trim against a Supercharged Camaro.

Here are some more details of the build.

http://www.chevyhardcore.com/news/video-a-custom-1971-chevelle-with-1000-hp-and-all-wheel-drive/

I am now looking for a killer set of wheels / tyres / brakes. It is not that easy as the front and rear wheels have to be of the same diameter.

ello Gil,

I live nearMolsheim (Bugatti factory).
Here are 2 pictures, the first onein 2WD, the last one at the track. I love the sleeper look of the car. Nobody takes care of me until the launch !!

My best 0-62 mph now is 2.39sec at 32PSI boost in full street trim on 17" wheels, lauching in second gear smoking all 4 of them. I definitely need better tyres

Superbe Chevelle !!!
Impressionnant sur les runs !

Awesome built ! it must be hard to ride with on French roads !!

Which plan do you have for handling ?

alexchevelle

The handling is not so bad yet. I definitely need better tyres and brakes.
Weigth balance is at a perfect 50/50%

Wow wow!! That setup rocks. It has to be the coolest thing to hear the terrifying sound of your car in the French country side. I love the 4 wheel drive and it has perfect stance. Great vision for an already cool car.

I perform the 60 to 0 mph braking in 115 ft (according to G-Tec results) with four low cost 11" vented rotors.
Tyres limit the braking power, but this is not the main concern. A need better endurance for track or mountain roads.

Here are the passing times on a medium country side road. Acceleration increases with speed

60 to 0 mph in 115 feet ? I think it's already great numbers...
I read somewhere Veyron does it arond 100 feet...
Depends your budget, maybe Baer, Wilwwood or Corvette C4/C5...
Maybe go 18" wheels , you'll probably have better choices in tires & more clearance for big brakes.

Here are my last upgrades. 19x10 ET 25 Apex PS7 Wheels. Brakes are BMW M5 E61with 374mm front and 370mm rear.
Tyres are Kumho Le Sport 285/35/19
Handling seems to be very very good. I will perform some braking and lateral acceleration tests to confirm this feeling.
QA1 in the front with 650lbs springs
QA1 in the rear with 400 lbs springs
Stiff front sway bare, none in the rear.
