A couple weekends back I just happened to be out hunting for a newer car to work on as a side project to my 69 Firebird. I just happened to come across a pretty decent buy while I was in an adjacent city.

I picked up a 1999 Electric Green Cobra coupe. Black leather, chrome wheels, in very good condition with just under 50000 on the odometer. I verified the car has had the "fix" as well.
Paid 13,995 and put $500.00 down.

It feels SOO good to be back behind the wheel of a Mustang again. Still wish it was my old 03 Cobra but this will do.

I'm building an open track car out of this one as drag racing really doesn't interest me as much anymore. The plan is to go with the Maximum Motorsports coil-over conversion with Eibach F&R stabars, Steed X2 balljoints to fix geometry changes that occur after lowring. I'll also be doing poly IRS subframe bushings with delrin IRS control arm bushings and delrin bushings up front. The car will also get Griggs through the floor sub-frames as well as MM front and rear strut tower braces. Then a set of lightweight wheels with good tires.

I hope to be able to run about 1:17 at my local road course.
Anyway here's a few pics.

I am installing a maximum motorsports maximum GRIP BOX pck on a 94 GT convert right now...it is a lot more work than i thought it would be but they make quality products for sure!

I had a set of their full length sub-frames on my 2003 Cobra. The welder that put them in couldn't stop talking about how beefy they were compared to the sub-frames he's installed on the newer F-Body cars.

I was certainly impressed with those. I can't wait for the Griggs through the floor SFC's though. That should really tighten this baby up.

I have to say that I really love this car. It's not as quick as my 03 Cobra was but with the all aluminum engine it's a lot lighter and handles qutie a bit better. I think with the right amount of weight reduction off the front end and some carefull attention to relocating items such as the battery, I might be able to get weight distribution close to 50/50. The heavy IRS in the rear certainly helps with that.
