This route looks doable for me. Have to see how life works out when I graduate. I've been wanting to do this for a long time.

Won't ever happen. Or if it ever did, it would be an off shoot type event. Kind of like the new Drag Weekend events.

I seriously doubt the event will be at Kicker HQ in Stillwater, last time we were there it was the University and that wasn't big enough...Kicker Audio was open and was the start of the following days drivers meeting. No way they have enough room there to host the event...

I might have to join in the Stillwater to Topeka segment since that is close to my hometown and I will be in the area visiting family and friends. Would be a good excuse to bring the car with me.

Well-well. I might have to do this, or part of it. ONE of the stops you list is 5m from my home in Nebraska. However I would be surprised if they stopped in Grand Island. I would think Speedway would pull them all into Lincoln somehow.

Well the wife would be happy if it does go west like posted above as she can spend the tour money on something else.. I would never go that way for one.

Must be the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, just east of Houston.

Are you kidding me? That stop in Wichita is about two miles from my brother's house. Why in the world would they pick that drag strip? That drag strip was my home track back in the 70's. It was tiny then and it's still tiny with a couple new buildings. Wonder where they plan on parking everyone. Well looks like I may have to go.

There are gonna be an awful lot of folks lost looking for "Arrowhead Stadium" in Kansas City, KS. lol Its apparent no one has ever been to KC and the Home of the CHIEEEEEEEEEFS!

I think the last day it's at Kansas speedway. Due to royals having a game

TheJDMan

Kansas Speedway would make tons more sense for a couple of reasons. 1. It is a very nice professional racing venue. 2. It is located on the west side of KC so participants would not have to drive through KC traffic to get there. GO Royals!

Same here. We're doing the entire trip in my sisters 64 Falcon. Going to be fun. I may swing by the house and get the Maverick once in DFW if thats where they decide to do the autocross this year. I havent heard anything yet though. You bringing the Firebird out or will you have the Mustang completed?

I'm driving the Firebird, and my friend will be driving his Mustang, then he'll bring it home to Oregon.

Have to cut back on Auto Cross before PT ( 1 local event next week, then Good Guys FT. Worth ) I have to balance the "budget" with the BOSS.

Wondering if this is even for me. Cant find a schedule of events. I am NOT a track guy. Driving with a bunch of classics sounds all right. Is this anything but driving city-city and then just sitting there?

I'm kinda curious about this as well. Do they typically have any scheduled activities and/or vendors at each stop or do they just stand around in a parking lot? I can't make the whole route but I plan to join for one or two stops.

Depending on the venue it's more or less driving from city to city and idling inline to get in or out. There will be an autocross at one stop and fun runs at the drag strip at those stops. There are quite a few vendors from stop to stop and they have giveaways at each stop like magnets and t shirts for example when you show your credentials.

I've done stops the last 4 years and it's really about what your into. You see a lot of cars and meet a lot of people but it gets repetitive in a way. It's something to experience but I'd rather do an autocross/track event these days. It's been to many hours idling and to many mediocre stops

Do they normally publish a schedule of events or activities planned at each stop?

Yes, usually about 4-6 weeks before the start.

Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown is a drag strip, so no doubt there will be drag racing there. Circuits of the Americas is an F1 track so hopefully at least auto cross.

I live right outside of Gonzales. I'm in for the ride to Houston and Austin.

The Lamar Dixon expo center is primarily rodeo ring/livestock show venue, so the covered areas are mostly dirt floors. Though it does have an expansive parking lot and pavement all around the covered areas. Which is where most of the Power Tour event/shows took place last year. It is kind of a polar opposite of an ideal setup for a car event/show. You either can get the rain or park your car in the dirt.:dunno:

The entrance/exit to the place is poorly designed and has been a SMH topic around town for years. Traffic is a bit of a cluster when there's a big event. FYI, Lamar Dixon has two exits! Ashland rd. (in the rear) and St. Landry Ave.

I'll be joining Greg and some of the Camaro Club members in Baytown and riding along until DFW. Hope to see you and your sister in the Falcon. Plus I want a ride on the autocross in Dallas if they offer one. Love the Mavy!
