Anybody know if you have to have disc brake spindles with the right stuff detailing big brake kit. I've got drum spindles and the upper bracket bolt seems too large. Any info or photos would be appreciated.

We used one of their kits on a '67 Mercury Comet, was able to use the factory drum brake spindles and fit perfect. The booster and M/C setup didn't fit, but it was a kit intended for a Mustang. Ended up using the Wilwood M/C. What car are you installing it on?

Haven't used any of their GM kits, typically we stay with Wilwood. I will say, however, that their instructions are pretty vague. We had to down load the instructions online because they weren't included in the kit...

Call them for tech help.
We have the stock size stuff on dad's car and it works great.

Got a hold of right stuff tech support, very quick response and they did email me a copy of the install instructions which were as previously noted a bit basic but complete. They say it will work with both disc and drum spindles so I'll have to head back to the garage tonight and take another look. I'll fill you all in later.
the upper caliper bracket bolt on GM cars was VERY large in diameter

So this is where I'm at for those of you listening in. While the drum spindles could Technically work with this kit I think it's going to be far easier to do it with disc spindles. I have encountered two problems with drum spindles
#1: the drum spindles use a smaller diameter upper bolt to hold the drum brake assembly to the spindle. If you were going to use the drum spindles you would have to drill and tap the upper boss for the larger diameter bolt.

#2: The upper boss is squared off on the end and the recessed cut in the bracket is round. You'd have to grind off the edges of the upper boss for the bracket to sit flush. If you look at the picture below and the picture of the spindle above you can see what I'm talking about. 120974

Welp, got the front brakes installed today. The disc spindles came in yesterday and it was pretty much straight forward and smooth sailing today. Overall I'm quite happy with the kit. Just a coupe of observations.
1.As previously stated the instructions are very basic and not a whole lot of photos. If you have a technical question other than "where does this part go" you probable won't find it in the instructions. On the bright side Right Stuff tech support is pretty quick to respond to an email.
2.The kit did not have shims for the caliper bracket, I had to go get some washers to center the bracket on the rotor. Not a big deal but worth noting.
Like I said before all in all I think it's worth the money. I won't be able to give you guys a report for a while because I still have to install the rear brakes, engine, tranny, and basically everything else. Here are some photos.

Are those 11" rotors?

No the signature kit has 13" front rotors and 11.5" rears. for reference the wheel is an 18. Right stuff does have an 11" kit however.

Thanks for sharing your experience. This kit is on my short list for brake upgrade options in the spring. I will be interested in seeing how they perform once you get it all together.

I'll make sure and keep everybody updated as I get the the rears installed and everything back together. I ballin on a budget as they say so the process takes a while. I figure by spring it should be ready for body and paint.

FWIW, there are two variants of the GM short-spindles (64-72 A-body, 1967-1969 F-body and 1968-1974 X-body) for drum brakes, one of which has a 1/2-20 tapped upper mounting boss and the other is tapped for 5/8-18. There are actually more variants if you count the mid-60's drum spindles which used 7/16-20 steering arm bolts before upgrading to 1/2-20 fasteners, but most aftermarket brake kits will require you to drill our your early spindles and steering arms for 1/2" hardware, so we don't usually worry about that since it's an easy fix.
