Started reading up on hydroboost conversion for my 1968 Mustang. Seems there is some talk about getting the correct leverage ratio in the brake pedal. Instead of modifying stock pedal some guys are swapping the entire brake/clutch pedal assembly from early 2000s Corbra. Currently I have an auto trans and also prepping for a t-56 magnum trans manual so this looks to be a good way to go as a clutch pedal is also needed. Have not decided on brakes but they will be either stock Cobras or Wilwoods. Can anyone speak to the results of such a pedal assembly swap with hydroboost and t-56 magnum.

I installed a 2003 Cobra hydroboost on my 67 Cougar with hydraulic clutch master from 2011 mustang. I am doing a coyote swap w/viper t56. I had to install a wedge to clear the valve cover so I wouldn't have to shift the brake assembly toward the driver's side. The stock pedal assembly can be made to work if you choose to go that route. Reproduction clutch pedals and power brake pedals I believe go for around $125 ea. I corrected the pedal ratio on the power brake pedal to match the cobra setup. It required that I move the brake pedal rod pivot point and the brake pedal pivot point. The pin in the pedal can easily be removed by grinding the mushroomed head off.

1badc68cat, I came across you build while hunting around. We have very similar builds so thanks for replying. The clutch slave cylinder looks like it will protrude past the firewall when installed. Are you going to weld in some "dimple" or "bowl" on the firewall?.

Jsulse, the master does protrude through the firewall, but it passes through the original clutch rod hole which was a pleasant surprise. However it is at the top of the hole. The reservoir hose pokes through the original wiring hole as well. Not sure how I got so lucky. Lol. I will likely connect the 2 holes and put a cover plate to better seal the firewall.

I did the Cobra HB swap into the Camaro back in '03 or '04. If anything the brakes were too touchy even with a similar caliper. The leverage ratio on a 1st gen vs. a Cobra may be the difference here.
