So my old boss sold shop to new owner{of the franchise} and he actually wants another tech to use brass compression fittings in a brake line.
Car has other rusty lines but if customer only wanted the rt frt cross line fixed i would have simply replaced the whole line,,,,so much for this guy being as good as the claims.
He also will sell patches on rusty pipe rather than proper repairs,or at least allowing customer to make call on how to proceed.
Starting to think I need to consider looking for new digs.
Time will tell.
Oh yeah Indiana dot law states no brass compression fittings in brake lines. Steel is legal up to specific gvw.

lee i would go behind his back and rat him out to the franchise .....$$$$ over safety of someones life is worth being a rat. that is absolute H.S. that he would try to save a FEW DOLLARS over doing the job correctly and with the right materials

Lee,
The problem with working for a hack like your new boss is that you will be the one who gets blamed if someone gets hurt as a result of a half-assed repair. You need to open your own shop! OR, I know you are not too far from Jasper, I seem to recall Bret at Ridetech has been advertising for help.

So been debating on looking for new job closer to home and now the other shoe drops.
I had agreement with previous boss/owner on a gas allowance of 20.00 a day as I am driving 90 miles a day. So today I was told I no longer get it because its illegal. Its infra to other techs.
Don't get me wrong on the brake line issue, if they were steel, they are safe and legal. But damn man, BRASS,,,,,those are only rated to 150 psi yeah yeah I'm sure many will brag on using them but I was dot licensed back before Indiana dropped inspections. Wow hadn't heard about Ridetech, but had heard old boss around corner from Ridetech might need help. Its machine shop/ garage. Now wish I had tool bills paid lower. Other thing is Ridetech or Pauls are just around corner and down road from my moms house. So would get to help her more. And they are only 30 miles from home. Dang finally getting caught up and not strangled financially and yutz has to pull this.
Other thing was it was related this guy was sooooo good and soooo busy we should pick up in business, but not so much other than doing lots of extra oil changes. They cant even get customers to bring back what I estimate.
Guess I got a lot to pray about this weekend.
Thanks guys , you all kind of reiterated just what I thought.

WELL, other shoe dropped today. New boss let me go, and I can't say I am not relieved. Only problem is I drew down emergency fund to pay a bill off, just found tow company that has my wrecked dd Buick Regal a week and a half after having my wreck on 22nd.
So looking for a car or thinking about driving Caprice if I can swing few pits and pieces to make it road worthy.
Don't get me wrong corporate will get a call to let them know they need to do some blind whopping to see if the guy keeps doing dangerous stuff.
Thought about calling my old boss, the guy who sold that shop.
Oh and the other issue is I gotta get tool box out by Wednesday, and turn in my uniforms or no paycheck.
Anyone need some cutting torch regulators or a 10 gal sand blaster new in box its up on parts for sale.
I'll even wheel and deal on price some.
It figure first thing is locate all my uniforms and figure out hauling tools.
Wish I could remember PT members name that lives in Martinsville, he might have few ideas on who could help.
Oh well , honestly I can't believe it's over. Hate leaving friends but heck I don't need hassle if someone's cars kills them or others.
I care too much, figure that's why I'm always broke!!!!!
Wish me luck, few jobs more local, just gotta survive till then. Handy thing would have been to have this happen closer to getting w2s so I could file taxes.
So I won't be politically correct, if y'all are religious pray for me to land on better footing, light a candle, burn some incense , maybe an old championship drag slick, anything to convince the automotive guardian spirits to help me get back up.
Just kidding about spirits, I KNOW Had has a plan and it will go on as its supposed too. Heck I started putting app back on Bridgestone/Firestone site but having issues with interface fill out form an even with 2 or 3 words says I have over the 200 word limit.
At least if I wind back up in Bloomington the drive is much easier with I 69 done, 20-25 minutes from on ramp to Bloomington!
Well back to help wanted adds.

The one time I had to deal with this I just called the Matco guy. He picked up and delivered at no charge. Considering the distance, may not be so easy, but he may be able to hold the box for you for a few days. Now call Ridetech on Monday...

Hey Lee,
just read what you have going on there. Well I am a praying man so will do that for you. As these guys have told you about ride tech, send a few messages and then be on their door step Monday morning with resume in hand. I agree tool guy will help you, call a tow truck with a rollback if need be. Have faith and be real glad you are not associated with someone like that anymore. All the best to you.

Jetfixr, I hear you but moving isnt an option right now and I did the long drive, its just not in the cards anymore.
I saw a used car dealership wanting a mechanic in Mooresville, may check that out when I go back up tp wrap up some tool truk business and pick up my front tires off my Regal.
I may have to look that way leter on but for now I am looking closer to home. Lucky I dropped some resumes on way out of Bloomington after me and a good friend moved my tools. Local Chrysler dealership is expanding and opening a Nissan dealership too, sooo that might get me back to Bloomington.
Dont get me wrong Work is important but being closer to home and my mom is too.
Hoping for something in the jasper,Bedford,Bloomington,Vincennes area.
