What is a good lap time for Road America?

I know a guy with one of the best modified 3000GT in the country and he finally got his car to run consistently (w/o overheating) At the SpeedSeekers event last weekend. His car is pretty amazing and he ran a personal best lap time of 2:34.

The other 3000GT and Stealth owners made it sound like he was turning faster lap time than any other street car there. I am trying to figure out if that is really true or if some bench racer's were exagerating.

Anyone here care to post thier lap times at Road America?

P.S. Next summer I will once again be organizing the 3000GT & Stealth National Gathering Road course event at Gingerman Raceway, Thurday night June 5th 2006. I always like to have a few high quality cars of other makes just to make the event interesting. Usually there is a mix of NSX, Supras M3s and Porche's. Next year I think it would be awesome for some classic pro-touring cars to join us. If anyone is interested just email me and I will keep you updated on the event.

Here is a link from the Northwoods Shelby Club's track day at RA. The third guy down is a friend of mine and has a fairly wild 80's Mustang coupe that ran 2:38. I would say 2:34 is pretty respectable.

Or- 2:34 laps would have finished him somewhere around 6th in the T1 class at this year's June Sprints.

I have run the Speedseekers event in the past and plan to next spring with my 67 (see link in my sig). It is really tough to get a clean lap due to slower cars and no passing zones in the corners, so I think that kind of time is a pretty good accomplishment.

Is your friend the guy with the red car? I remember him there in years past battling mechanical demons.

The Red 3000GT with Red hood is Philip Glasatov, he is the owner of Supercar Engineering a great place to buy stoptech Brakes. He has his personal best of 2:36 last weekend.

The Red 3000GT with the cabon Fiber Hood is Jack Tertadian's, He has been fighting cooling problems for almost 2 year, he was VERY happy to turn his all time best lap of 2:34. He finally fixed the problem with new head gasket, higher pressure radiator cap, relocated radiator cap, Additonal Coolant de-areation tank and an additional electric water pump.

I think the 2nd car is the one I was thinking of. The trailer in the background had a Pontiac emblem on it if I remember right. Ironically, I think the guy in the Shelby club post, Dave Neu, did some fabrication work on the Mitsu with the black hood.

That's Jack, He has a pretty hard core 455 Pontiac too but I have never seen it.

His goal seems to be to beat some monster track only Camaro called Beluga (the great white whale). Jack Didn't mention Beluga so it probabaly was not at this event.
