So some Billy Gidden guy posts on a local forum that I'm on. I'm the first to post and ask what kind of car he drives(seeing how he asked about a drag racing shoot out that we're doing next summer). Well instantly I am hit with the "Is your question serious?" yada yada yada. I do not follow dragracing to the point of knowing the names, cars, stats, etc. Just like Hockey. I enjoy them both but I'm not going to know everything about the sport nor do I want to. I barely follow Solo II and Solo I for christ sake... and I dig that stuff!
Well, then the smartass's pipe up and claim that I'm "into that Ferrari wanna be Pro Touring Stuff."
What a joke is all I can say. Bunch of f... you know! :attn:

Billy Glidden is one of the most popular "streetcar" Mustang racers in the country. Pretty much an idol for the Mustang guys. Most of his cars in the past looked like crap, but were the quickest in the field. He won a TON of events along the way.
What site does he post on?

Didn't I see Bob Glidden as the Crew Chief for Jeg Coughlin now? Of Jeg's for those that don't know. I know.... :getout: :slap:

Well right now, the owner of the site traced IP's and it appears to be a cockroach that wants to be Billy Glidden... IP's are in different countries. He claims Indiana, but IP shows he's in Canada.

That would explain a lot...I've met Billy Glidden before, and I honestly wouldn't expect him to have that sort of attitude....he's a real humble guy....doesn't have a big head or anything like that. He was actually a really cool guy to talk to.....and he can sure build a SBF.

I remember being at Indy the weekend that all came out. Took a couple year old car and an engine that couldn't qualify and came out and qualified in the top half of the field a few events in a row if I remember right. Rumor was hidden nitrous in the ballast and plumbed through the rollcage and hoodscoop mount spraying into the carbs. Just enough to pick up a tenth or two. Pretty cool, and clever.
My details may not be 100% accurate. I am getting forgetful in my middle age.

I have to agree he is pretty big in the Ford crowd/world. i dont follow drag racing and i know who he is. basically took **** cars with killer motors and killed every one in street type classes. I am pretty sure he dominated on a pretty low budget. i think he ended up in the 10.5 Outlaw class and is probably higher than that now if he's still racing. Dont keep up, but knew exactly who he was talking about.

Just to give you a little info. If it was not for Bob Glidden... there would be no serious racing competition for any of the GM guys. He came into pro stock and comp eliminator in drag racing and dominated everyone. He is one of the best ford motor builders out there. He works with Tony Schumacher (with his stuff and shop) and I believe does do some work with Jeg's. Cant quote me though, I am not to sure about the Jeg's thing. Anyways him and his son Billy are some of the few reasons how Ford was able to keep up in the older days of drag racing. He is EXTREMELY bright, and a hell of a guy.
I am sure though, simply because of the post, that would not be Billy.

I remember Bob Glidden. Don't know his son though. Although I don't pay attention to drag racing let alone the NHRA stuff anymore. Once you've been bitten by the NASCAR/SCCA bug, you're in no mood to be watching 5 second races that go in a straight line.

Once you've been bitten by the NASCAR/SCCA bug, you're in no mood to be watching 5 second races that go in a straight line.I understand the dull factor. I still like the top fuel Dragster and FunnyCar. Anyone who has ever been to the drags to see, errr, feel those cars race understands.
