I've got an 85 Crown Victoria with a 351w. Pump seems to have been used on everything Ford smallblock since 1978 other than rack and pinion cars.
It, and supposedly many other Panther chassis cars, loses power assist if you crank too quickly. It usually won't happen in calm parking lot manoeuvres, but in autocross and occasionally quick downtown traffic dodging it becomes a real issue. You can turn it about a quarter turn and then it has barely any assist.
It does this even with stone cold fluid. No defects like fluid level or type, excessive noise, leaks, etc.
Is there something aftermarket that'll fix this? Or something known as being able to be made to fit from another car? Realistically I could spend maybe 300 or so on this and really don't want to have to do too much butchery as the accessory brackets for this car are unobtanium
